Art & Inspiration A few stops this morning on Old Rt 1

I've been meaning to take a few photos of these places along old Rt1 here just outside Yulee FL. What a nice morning for a long drive in an old sled!

 

I want to do the Rt 1 , 301, 17 from
Va to Fla .
Im about 10 miles from 17 , I would take
17 to route 3 3 & 17 south cross over 301 , continue south to Virginia Beach on 17 , then pick up 301 run coast of
Nc , Sc Ga into Fla then south around Daytona , 301 or 1 down to start of Keys.
Just because my cars 10 -14 mpg on
91-93 & 12 gallon tank , blown car 11ish the other N,A. 15-17 ish 87 ...
Yes faster to do interstate 95 ,
I tried to look on line just to see how may Stop Light's & signs between
Port Royal Va 301,17 ,3 intersection to p*** Jacksonville Fla , did not come up with a # of , just want to Cruise along around
60 ish MPH & gas stations, stops

 

Funny you mention 17 in Va, I grew up in Winchester VA not far from where 17 originates and now living all the way down here Im still
only a few miles from 17 again!! Would be fun to go back home in this old country squire on 17 for sure!

 

Rt1 1/4 mile away from me , running it south from where I am @ , @ M***aponax Va , rt 1 run's south & on west side of 95 towards Richmond , still south but working more west threw Nc
Then @ South of Border Nc/Sc , the Ga
Fla sorta center , where from Va beach
Along coast .

I might be wrong on 301 along coast its 17 fromVa beach to keys ..

I looked all this up a few months ago
I have family in Daytona , Miami and then on the western side, I wanted to drive one of my 32s down coast .

Rode that 2X from Miami ro Dover DE.
Cool ride, no headaches, one pulling a trailer with Model A ch***is.
Lot less drama than 95
Had to use that 95 too much, driving the company's truck.

Very cool car, I have always liked early '60 full size Fords and '63 is the best.

 

Thank you, I agree the 63/64 are probably the best looking big fords ever.

Rt 1 , All the sights / buildings here where I am @ long gone after 1985 between Arlington Virginia to Ashlyn Va all the Hotels, motels ,restaurants Cottage sleepovers , tourist attractions
65 ish mile stretch, Like many places Routs before Interstates . Rt 1 Main to Fla I think completed around 1975is .
South of the border was a big deal now it's a rundown place , I thought it was going to make a come back when S of B was in a movie & renovation was done, Forces of nature Sander Bullock ,Ben Affleck

A lot of character in these old places! There's a few more motels along Rt1 not far up the road I'll hit next.
