After the long haul to Bonneville and back the valve seats and guides were wasted. I had my pal Frank Lamb install all new guides, stelite seats and re-face the valves, I also dropped in new lifters and adj. pushrods....so I thought what the hell, lets add a few more carbs. I re-built 2 more 97's, machined up some new linkage and added a cragar 4 carb intake. Of course this created a few clearance problems with the generator and fuel lines. I machined a few aluminum spacers which raised the generator giving me more clearance for the linkage and lines.
Man that's a good looking set up. I always like to see more carbs. Any chance you got a side view shot of it with the hood off?
Not too much, just put the engine back in the 32 and working on my shovel project. What are you doing for fuel lines? hard lines or keep the rubber?
It's buried in the garage right now but when it's outside ill post one. Here's one from last year at the Rumblers Terryville show. Pete-
Looking good Pete. That motor will be screamin like a demon. Can't wait to get the cars out, it's been a loooong winter.
No, it's all 3 window. Last night I made the linkage that connects the pedal to the carbs and Im now waiting for the new stromberg banjo fittings, ordered them from Eric. Once the cars running ill start on making the grill insert and a little paint work. Pete-
Beautiful setup and car... One question... Won't the weight of the aluminum piece that connects the right and left linkages put tortional loads on the throttle shafts? It's a nice solution to the problem of keeping them synched... Is this how most people run 4 staggered dueces?
Kilroy, I actually copied the original style cragar linkage that came with the intake. The aluminum is 3/16 thick...It took me a few hours to adjust all the carb arms to same rotational spots and I did it using a square and a calipers with all the*****erflies closed, I did the same style on my chevy coupe and it worked great. Chris, Its actually a NOS cragar, traded with a fella here on the HAMB. Pete-
Put a level on top of carbs., with that intake it tends to sit to low in back causing fuel to run out of air bleeds because tilt in carbs. I had to bring the frt. height of engine down to get carbs. to sit level. Then you got to check driveshaft angle again because trans. came up at rear.
Hank, The front of the car is on jack stands right now, so it makes the carbs looks tipped back. I was hoping most of my stuff would show up today.....but not so much. Pete-
Malcolm, Yes I did....thanks. Roy brought it home safe and sound. When it warms up a bit im going to get it on a stand and go through it. Pete-
