Well, it's been a couple weeks...but the passenger door is finally skinned on the modified. The first couple pics show the inner structure and the bottom half of the door skinned with 22 Gauge weld steel. The third pic shows the buck I built out of Poplar for the top section. Basically I clamped a square piece of wood in the door opening and ground it to shape with 80 grit on the grinder. Once I was happy with the shape I hammered a piece of 22GA over the wood. (I had to cut reliefs along the top to get the metal to form the small compound curve...and tacked the cuts back together...that's why the wood is burnt). Once that piece was shaped, it was back to the car. I trimmed the newly shaped "cap" and slid it into place over the inner structure for welding... Now it's onto the firewall and cowl section....Stitch

looks pretty good Skipstitch. Are you going to have any kind of bracing underneath the cap? Or will the bend be strong enough? later plmczy

Thanks guys.... Plum, the door will get an additonal inner "skin" to catch the upholstery (alway thinkin' about interior!!!!) and that will give added strength to the top. It's pretty strong now, but if you really leaned on it...it would bend a little...Stitch

Very nice work. The way you shaped the wooden buck is a good idea. I need to form new door tops on my rpu project, I just might "borrow" some of your ideas.

BTW, I got my issue of Rev. Thank you, it is a neat little magazine.
