    Hey everyone,

A fellow HAMBer from Chicago had his truck stolen while in TX for the Round Up this past Friday- you can find the thread here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=463996&highlight=stolen+truck

As of today, no headway has been made and the gentleman, HAMB name 1lowtruck, had to go back to Chicago with his son- sans truck.

There was a movement on the thread for people to donate a little bit of money towards a reward fund and a bunch of people ponied up to help out. In the event that the truck is never recovered, a close friend of the victim has suggested that the proposed funds for the reward be put toward a new project truck- this has all been done without the victim knowing anything about the effort.

I thought that there might be a possibility that some of my generous friends in our Ford Owner's Group might join me in putting foward a donation. Any amount is would be greatly appreciated. If you are interested in helping out, please contact HAMB member FoMoCoPower; he is planning on setting up a Paypal account to help with this.

If this is not welcome on the group board, I apologize. I know that if something like this happened to me I would be devastated.

Again, please keep this on the down low. The victim is not yet aware of the effort to possibly help in funding another vehicle.

    Thanks

I saw and read this post..... a real bummer.....

I know a guy that lost his pickup, trailer, and street rod (in the trailer) in Reno a couple of years ago right out of a motel parking lot. He later recovered the pickup (parted out)... his trailer (in a shallow canyon) and never saw the street rod, probably parted out and sold as parts.

Alarms were in place but got by-p***ed with no one arrested. His insurance really screwed him to the point that he never replaced the street rod or trailer. I hear that this stuff happens all the time... we tend not to hear about it. So sad the outcome for all the work we do on these cars....

I guess we need to sleep in the cars with weapons!!!!

Hey? There are some cool car shows that I'd like to go to but am now sketchy about an overnight hotel/motel stay. Razor blades on the insides of the door handles?

I'm not really into car shows...not bashing them mind you....they're just not my thing. I'd rather be out driving....or swap meets....I like looking at old rusted stuff, and I always buy a parking slot in the meet and sell a few things.

That having been said, the last real car show type thing I attended was Goodguys in Fort Worth about 4 years ago. My dad and I took his 40 coupe....and.....I was so dang nervous about someone ripping it off from the hotel that I got up around 1am and slept in the front seat. It ****ed...because the front seat in a 40 Ford is little.

And....as I suspected....Goodguys ****ed as well. The power parkers were all lined up in the entrance area and it cost a small fortune to get the 40 into the meet. I'll never go to a Goodguys event again.
