Hi, a friend of mine will start at next years speed week. Thought some of you might be interrested in this project. He will be at the speed week this year too but without the tank. He also did the Panamericana two years ago with a self build racer and without a team just a driver and a copilot. That looks alot like the one Jesse built a couple years ago This is my German tank Next year it's 60 years old
'30 Mercedes combined with 30's BMW Hurth The boxes are combined with a chain box set up The Mercedes part is only used for the final drive and axles. BMW part does the shifting. It's a real ''Rube Goldberg'' thing.
For the love of god Bluto you have some crazy stuff, is that a hill climb/trials car? I have spoken to the Smoking Shutdown folks who are helping get the Tank to the salt, sounds like a cool project but I think they need to be SHURE to build it to the rule book specs to be able to run it. YOu don't just show up at the lakes in anything and run it anymore..... Hope I can be there next year to see it run!
Cool...........with all the posts about tanks lately.......I can see that there will be alot of bellytanks racing on the salt in the next couple of years. Chris Nelson Kansas
Yea ...Tina and Thom from Smokin Shutdown have been really promoting this German tanker at their booth at each Norcal show i've seen them at this year. Best wishes on it's completion and i hope it does well for ya. Make sure it fits the specs because it's a long way from home to not be able to run such a beautiful machine your buddys got there!
Years ago, they would let stuff run that didn't meet "specs." sometimes. Just ask Burt Monro about being a long way from home and NOT being; "according to the rules." (although it would be tough now )
I think it will meet the specs, Tom the guy who build the Tank knows about what is allowed and what not. The Tank is all pre 54 I think. Greetz FLoW.
Where's the roll cage and where's the drivers feet go? It looks like you'd have to kneel in it to drive it.
