Did you know that a 60/61 Starliner top will fit? A very do able project. I know where there are a few scrapped out Starliner bodies up here in the N. Dallas area. We are in the process of swapping tops on a couple of 62 Impala's for 61 Buick "bubble tops"...have one done and another Buick showed up just before the frickin FREEZE.........have no idea when we can dig it out..lol If you are interested, drop me an email and I will give you the info and number of the guy that has the Starliners. I think someone here on the HAMB has done one already with a 60 Ford 2 door sedan. I know they are on the same wheelbase.

I just read your post. So you bought one Edsel and there is another one in your avatar. Does that mean you own 2 outta the 3 that you want? How about describing the car in your avatar. I am not an Edsel aficionado so I don't know what it is specifically.

Well since you want a 58, and you want a wagon. How about an Edsel Sedan delivery? I got the project started, then I lost partial use of my hands. Had surgery and it hasn't helped much. Would like to find a good home for my project. Check it out on the panels and deliveries site. Shameless plug, but it isn't listed in the classifieds or any where else at the moment either.

Really glad to be back. I missed y'all more than I really realized! :)

Audrey, the '59, has just been running so well that, well, I just drive her. I cannot bring myself to tear her apart again to finish up final body and paint. So, I just drive. . .

Thanks to everyone for welcoming me back. . .Feels good to be back "home" :D

  19. Welcome back, wondered where you went. Isn't this a wonderful sickness? Had I known you were that much in love with Edsel's I would have made my Wagon more difficult for you to pass up. Can't wait to follow this build thread. Good luck

You are correct! The starliner shared with the edsel hardtop, and the ranger post you have would have shared with the fairlane.

I have all the starliner hardtop parts to make that car one.....
-anyhow, great find; I have only seen them in books and never seen interior shots. thanks for sharing.

The more I think about it, the more I'm loving the idea of doin' the Starliner top. . .It'll really depend on what happens once we dig into the roof. . .as it stands now, with what rot is visible along the drip rails -- the roof is pretty toasty.

I'm going back and forth right now. . .she's rare, but not "super rare" (like the convertibles, wagons, or even the hardtops). . .and she's in rough shape. I don't feel like doing mods to her is like tearing into a low mileage, original paint, complete, rust free car. I'll have to do what I have to do to save her, and if that means re-shaping the roofline, that's what will have to be done. :)

Dayumit. Wish it was Spring Break. All I wanna do is tear into her and find out what lurks underneath the paint. . .

Frankie, I was daydreamin' a little with the thought of that Starliner roof and I thought what would be cool is a mild custom like May Cause Dangerous but in Edsel form. You'd have a really unique vehicle then.

I'd put a Starliner roof one one of those in a second if the right donor car was available. You'll need the doors, roof, part of the quarters and all the glass and window regulators, would be well worth it though.

Congratulations on your find and welcome back here. If you want to see some northeast Edsels. Look on Roadside America.com look for Lemongrove Forest of Edsels. Oxford, Pa ( not to far from Hopewell Nj - tell him I said Hi ) this guy had over 175 Edsels just sitting there rotting in his yard. I don't know what happen but the place is now closed.
anyway Good Luck with your new find
