Looks awesome. Good idea using the '32 hinge.

Eric, I think the w/s frame needs to be painted. It reminds me of the nerd in high school that is always pushing up his gl***es.......in a good way that is.

The second one is supposed to be Washington blue. I'm really leaning away from anything really dark though, all the details are lost.

Gave the painted windshield frame a shot. I'm not really feeling it. Seems kinda bland.

Thats some mighty fine designin! The hood makes it for me. Does this mean there will be another roadster to race at The Day of the Drags?

Still not sure what to do with it. I like it in bare metal but can't leave it like that after everything else is painted. It would never be straight enough to chrome. Thought about painting it aluminum color, but that would look cheesy. Maybe just finish out the metal work as best I can and clearcoat it.

Everyone else has already said it but the hood really completes the car, everything seems to flow better now......and I'm liking the third colour combo!

    A few more.

    Kind of a forest green.

    Solid red.

I've always liked mustard yellow since I saw that chopped fenderless '32 sedan w/ E&J's on the cover of Street Rodder.

And with really early "flames." They don't really look like flames at all, but I've always loved the look of the Hot Rod Magazine T roadster and others with similar paint.

I like the hood! Solid red would be awesome...but keep the black wheels.

If it were mine...and chrome wasn't an option on the windshield frame...I'd slick it up and paint it in either a fine metallic cast-iron gray or silver. Also paint the exhaust manifolds the same color...sounds weird but it would tie the color scheme together. Maybe do the headlight rings also.

There ya go, some more unsolicited advice!

I dunno. The red is kinda loud and more '50's era, I want an earlier look. Plus I've already got one red car and one red truck. The wheels will stay black no matter what.

Windshield frame idea would work. The exhaust manifolds will be hidden behind hood sides.

  12. Most of those color ideas look good! rogues mustard 32 and TomH's mustard modified are the same color. Might look at a pic of Toms to see how it looks in real life, very good I might add.

Ok, how about painting the wishbones the same color as the w/s frame then? You just need something on the lower part of the car to balance out the colors...makes it more cohesive.

Just one other painted part besides the w/s frame would do the trick.

Here's a shot of Tom Branch's deuce. I like the color on it, although I'm pretty sure it is a flattened metallic, whereas Rouge's sedan was a glossy non-metallic color.

This might be totally off the wall but I wonder how it would look a carmel color. I'm thinking with some chrome accents to set it off. Chrome lug nuts and center cap and/or a spinner in the center of the wheels.

Photoshopped on some hood sides. The louvers will probably be lower on the sides than pictured.

    I keep leaning towards blue.

yeh i like the blue too.
a quick question, those hood hinge repair sections, are they the correct shape for a 32 hood? On mine the hinge bits are all split and ****ed up at the ends, and i can't work out how to make them as the bends are so tight..if they are actually 32 hood repair parts im in luck..
cant seem to find them in any online catalogs.a link would be great.thanks..

Here's what I found on Cl***ic's website. I bought mine out of the catalog.

    http://www.cl***icautopartsgroup.co...ent=72472974&action=detail&item=V16-24780-060

    Listed as "inner hood hinge"

I don't know if I'd call them a repair piece, they don't work like factory. Instead of coming straight out (horizontally) in the "closed" position, as though you could just weld or rivet it to the hood, they point down, vertically. Then when the strips are in the open position, they are horizontal. Doesn't make a lot of since but thats how it is.

They do have the same bends as a '32+ hood and fit in the factory center strip.

  23. Fidgiter: Your modified looks terrific, I love it...I maybe missing something here, but I have two questions;

1: What is the grille from? and did you have to cut it down or is it stock?

2: What car's hood did you start with for the hood's sheetmetal? or did you shape it yourself on a wheel and break?

    Thanks-W.S.

    Thanks!

Lengthened '30/'31 hood with pieces from another, the shell is a narrowed and chopped '37 Ford truck.

So, has anything happened on this car in the last 5 years?

AFAIK, it got turned into a RPU, and then was sold to make way for another project.

I really liked following the build-up on this one; it was cool as a modified and as a RPU.

    Later, *****6

Yup....the last things I did to it were make a top, add the bed, and swap in a T5. Then sold it to a guy in Austin who didn't want the bed, who then sold it to a guy in California named John Maxwell. I miss it and would like to have it back...
