You guys know how I love to tell stories, right? Well, I get home from work tonight and pull up into my driveway spotting a package on the front porch. That's funny, I thought, I didn't order anything. I pick it up and look at the return address and right away say to myself, no way, not again! A package from Jay Carnine and I know exactly what it is as soon as I see that return address. I ripped open the box (just like Christmas) and discover, to my delight, is a personally autographed copy of his new book Pinky. Holy Smokes, too cool for words! I WAS planning on holding off purchasing Pinky and putting it on my Christmas wish list cuz Santa likes to bring books as presents. Looks like I don't have to wait 4 months, I'm starting it tonight!

THANK YOU so much Jay, it was so kind of you to to this. Your generosity is very much appreciated.

Flash back to last Saturday morning (not too early mind you)at the NSRA show in Kzoo. I arrive at the RRT canopy encampment to find all the regulars hanging out. Hello hugs and kisses all around. I ask Fart Cat if he brought the HAMB Drags tape that I ordered. HotRodGirl goes to the Desoto and gets out my tape. I go to give him the money and he says "Nope, already taken care of". What? By who? Says it's a secret and he'd have to kill me if he told me! Well, I finally get it out of him after much guessing that Atch paid for my HAMB Drags tape at the event!! Another AWESOME gesture by another very cool HAMB dude! THANK YOU so much Mike.

I just thought I'd take this opportunity to express my gratitude to two very cool car dudes. You guys rock.

To both of you, from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU SO MUCH

You did better than I did. I got the HAMB Drags tape---YES! Watched about 1/2 of it and decided to watch the rest when A buddy of mine was coming over that evening. Hit rewind and the friggin VCR ate it! Finally got it out but I'm going to have to splice it. Then I'm gonna need a new VCR because I ain't trusting this one with any important stuff again...

Already went to the army surplus store and picked up a big dead-blow. Gonna break it in on this friggin VCR!

    Denise,

Have you replaced your beloved ride (maybe you can't) from that horrible post about the troubles you had with your convertible? I remembered your car from Hot Rod, when they showed it on the Power Tour all beat up from the door incident. I was HORRIFIED to learn about the lightning stike...I guess it didn't make the 11 o' clock news around here or I would have remembered it...I read your post to my G/F who is not into cars, and she expressed a sincere remorse for you and your loss(es), as do I. [IMG] Hope all is well. [IMG]

Joe, if you can't splice it back together just let me know and I'll make you a copy of mine and send it too you. Since you already paid for one copy, no need to have to pay for another if you can't get it fixed.

Donzie, I've done absolutley nothing, I swear. Wasn't me, maybe it was another blonde in a convert. [IMG] But I do think a batch of cookies is in order to each of them, don't you? [IMG]

MercMan, yep replace it with a 47 Olds convert affectionantly known as Big Olds. I went 18 months without a hot rod while I looked. I've had Big Olds for 21 months now and I've racked up 31,700 miles on him since [IMG] My friends tell me the fire was on the news, I was in Syracuse, NY at a car show the weekend it happened. The shop was on VanDyke around 32 Mile Rd. He has since rebuilt in Warren. Keep your eyes peeled for a HAMB breakie get together/garage crawl/calendar stuffing party soon. Love to meet both you and your girlfriend and check out your ride and I'll "introduce" you to Big Olds. [IMG]

Love to get together and meet fellow Detroit-area Hambers.
The Merc won't be done anytime soon, but I'll show up in something special, I promise. [IMG]

  11. Denise,

MercMan51 is a LOOOOOOOOOOONG time friend of mine, and he is undertaking a major project with that Merc. Hope things are well, I haven't been HAMBing much lately, our internet at work got taken away from us, so I don't get to cruise as often [IMG]
