Thanks, Jeff. As impacted as I was many years ago by this car I'm finding that same feeling now again as I am involved in this project. Not to make this too syrupy but it is a priviledge and a humbling experiance all at the same time.

I'll be unable to have access to a computer for 2 1/2 weeks starting now.Up to now we've been showing tear down which has been extensive.Would to loved to have purchased a "scuff and shoot" car.Not very realistic. These cars were all done and became famous as 5-10 year old cars. Not 50+year old cars. The resto and refurbishing is WAY more work than the mods.
When I get back things will pick up a notch with the mods and assembly being the main focus.
I appreciate your interest and support.-Jerry

Well just got in and i need to get this story(pics) together in some sort of organized fashion. I'll be posting this next week.I still need the trans linkage. Is swapping out for a floor shift the latest fad? It's also time to look for a nice set of 552 appletons. Any help would be appreciated.

These are the front aprons and extensions. 1952 Pontiac Saturn Gold and a custom mix copperish/maroon(the main body color). The correct colors.

I agree. There were some '53-'54 chevs that I droolled over also. The Galleon,Moonglow and some others. I started once collecting parts for a build of the Galleon. In the the end the Ford coupes won with this one haunting me for quite awhile.

As I stated in my intro I'm not familiar with these cars. A problem has come up that I (we) need some help with. The rear end assembly that was in this was a Granada unit. My goal is to keep this build as genuine as possible. I've installed the rear end out of my parts car (a '49) thinking that its a genny unit. As you can see i've got a problem with the differential being off set. This makes the tunnel not usable as is (straight down the center of the car). The Granada is also the same configuration. What do I do?

Ok, after calling Chris at Shoe Box ford I now know that I have two 8" (later model) rear ends. The parts car ('49) had one as well as the '50. If I get a genny '50 I'll be set up with the drive shaft tunnel and keep everything period perfect which will become more important as this build continues. I'm now looking for a good genny rear end and i have two (!) 8""s to trade (or not).
This is simply a pimple on the ass of progress.
    P.S. Genny rear end anyone?

Chris also says that any rear end from '49-'53 will be correct (except for station wagons). I will also need the driveshaft. Anyone?

This car was done during the '56-'58 time period when the owner/builder was 15-17 y.o.. When I'm making decisions about how to do a particular thing I always have this teenager in mind. He was going to H.S. and did have skilled help, and direction from the shop he worked at (after school). If he had done this car after he "graduated" from the shop (after six years), and was on his own, this car would have been done differently. So my goal and purpose with this car is for it to be a historical document that reflects the particular time period that it was done in and especially a tribute/testament to this teenager working out his own personal "custom dreams" at this time in his life that impacted me and so many others.
