Well it's nice to be home. The strange thing is that the shop is empty. Even when the car comes back it won't be the same, This is good for everybody (especially me).

I'm going to post some pics to start to bring everybody up to speed.

When you start a project like this, the driver is usually recapturing your youth, recreating a particular car that impacted you back at the start of your journey.

I'm puzzled by the fact that this car hasn't been done till now. A journey like this has many twists and turns, many surprises. Getting to know Jr.. Getting to know you and realizing the passion that is stirred up by an exercise like this. Understanding what the H.A.M.B. is all about.

So here I am being invited to bring the car to the Grand National Roadster Show in January. WTF? Like the old time collision repair guys say when they get together ;we just wanted to work on cars and all this other stuff happened.

Forgive my ramblings. Just a hot pen, I guess. Now how do I get the car there ? I haven't the faintest clue.

Thanks for the offers. Now Eric be honest. You just want someone to admire your rear end, right?

With all the problems that this country has right now I'm becoming more and more convinced that if they (the problems) were centered around custom cars they could all be solved on this website. What a place! What a family.

Now, to what I need. I need this car (pita), in a if it fits it ships box with all the sophisticated packing protection stuff. I need to be able to put it in the box all detailed ready to show. I need to be able to take it out of the box (in L.A.), dust it off and walk away.

This is the kick panel/door panel area. Note that we are careful to duplicate the miss matched panels.

Man this build is going to be mind blowing! What I like about clones is that when they are correct built like yours, you can actually see how the car looked when it was newly built. If this had been the real unrestored deal the paint would have been faded, the knobs would have been pretty yellow and cracked, and the interior would have been the same! When I see for example a newly made bush radio, I feel it looks fake, cause it is in such mint condition. If it had been cracked, dirty, and worn I guess it could have fooled me right away. But I guess back in the 50s all Bush radios looked like the repros.... I guess the same goes for cars :) Keep up the good work, I hope you'll clone another car when this one is done :) .....what about the Dan Landon Coupe?

  26. I can't imagine the constant struggle of doing a clone like this. Aside from constantly reviewing old photos to replicate, it must be a challenge to look past things that you'd give a little more attention, like the kick panel/door panel match that you showed above.

You are really doing this build (and Mr. Conway) proud, and I really hope to see it at the GNRS...

Hey guys, as you know i've been out of town. While out of town I contacted my glass guy and he said that he would go over and look at the job at the trim shop. i come home to find out that they haven't seen him. While I'm over at the stainless shop to pick up the back glass mldg he shows up to have a quicky repair done on a mldg that he had damaged. I don't have a problem with the damaged mldg (stuff happens) but, this guy came across as something from another planet. A very scary guy. Definately a "my way or the hiway" type. He keeps appointments unless something more important comes up. There's got to be more than one capable glass guy in Fort Worth. I'm thinking about a plan B guy. Your thoughts please.

  29. I would for sure find someone else, and I'm sure plenty of people on here know others that can do the glass work. It just makes me mad, when guys who "perform a service" have that attitude. Is he is one of those type of guys that makes a appointment.. doesn't show and then says " oh something came up that was more "important" doesn't even call to tell you . Then you wind up calling them and ask was gives. I'm sure you will find the right person to do the job and will be excited to do it. I would say he had his shot. I work in the automotive field, that wouldn't fly with us here no matter what. Sorry to rant Jer, but If I had the chance to do a job on build like this. I sure wouldn't have his attitude at all.
