I think this is where we're going to end up for the correct stance. The carbs are going to get progressive linkage.

Is that a shared chamber intake manifold? If not I hate to say it but I really think you'll be asking for a tuning nightmare if you run progressive linkage on duals. I think the rear 4 cyls will be running lean.

Straight linkage is much better on duals. Authenticty or not.

Don't plug the power valves either. Put a regular stock Intake on there and tune each carb till you get them where you want. Then build the other one as a twin. Then put them on your dual Intake.

For those that were wondering, yep, i got em' (thanks to the HAMB). They will probably be the last things installed.

This is how the car looks outside. I would have liked to make it work at the lower height but, Jr can't do down in front. I thought lowering it further in the rear would save it. One big problem, the wheels/tires are not accessible at that level. I was just able to barely get them installed with the 3" blocks. I had to deflate them and push like hell to force them through what opening there was. Going 1" lower would mean installing the 4" blocks with the tire/wheel assys in place. How are they removed after that? I don't want to think about it. Plus the skirts become very vulnerable at the front mounts.

Jr says he's never had a car lower in the front.

  7. Jer, I run into the same problem with my 49 Coupe with 3" blocks. I also have to deflate them to dismount from my rig. My cut down Merc skirts still rub at time when I make hard turns. Looking great, how are the skirts and hubs cap coming along ?

yea, the way to do it is to

jack the car up real high, then put a bottle jack between the rear and the frame and jack the rear down, and you'll be able to get the wheels in.

Jr can't do down in front. I'll get dizzy at the height it was at. This is it. If we have to we'll use "adjustable" (see post #592) blocks for the rear.

the shocks on mine are what keep the rearend from dropping farther to get the tires up inside the wheelhouse...without shocks on, it would drop about 3" lower and not be a problem...also 670x15 bias tires go up in with no problem but the 205 R15 won't without letting air out....bias are about 1"-11/2" taller tho'

Final cut before swirl removing glaze. Can you wash your car inside your garage Yes, but make sure those heaters are completely cooled down and turned off.

? Is there any kind of clip that connects the winsheild stainless trim in the center,(since you went with the one piece glass). Or does it just sorta butt together, held in by the gasket?

    Thanks.

If Jr were to do this car today there definitley would be a cool fabbed joint cover made up at the stainless shop. But not then. They were just laid down in the groove of the gasket. The tape thats there is to keep from snagging the ends with the buffer.

Is there a HAMB friendly (traditional customs) appraiser in the DFW area?
