Thanks Todd for the tip on swinging the whole assy from the front spring mount. I decided to (gulp) install air shocks at the rear. They forced the assy down which gave me the room needed to muscle the deflated wheels/tires into place. This will give me a little flexibility when I get myself into a jamb loading/unloading or "on the road".

The "hush hush" lamp is lit.

Air shocks are smart....got extra people aboard or trunk loaded for the trip to Santa Maria...air 'em up to keep from dragging ground...it's OK Jerry...don't worry about a few minor changes for the better...If you had bought JRs car you would do whatever it took to make it yours and work for you, correct?
P.S. ....nice fix on the skirts, too!

That pesky mailman has really done it this time. He thinks Im going to put myself through the car show thing again. Actually, hes probably right. It looks like its going to be a little different this time around compared to the Dallas deal. Im goin to have to hit the ground runnin if Im goin to do the Barris store front thing.

If you look carefully at the original store front there are some interesting feature's (besides the the unique office window). We've seen numerous pics of wet sanding parties giving some famous cars the last go-over before a custom lacquer job. The front of the building had the water source so that became where all this was done. If you look closely at that corner you see a tortured conglomeration of plumbing that represents many quick repairs to keep production going. I need to capture that scene. The stucco is falling away because of the constantly wet environment. I thought there would be a rusty galvanized bucket but, Junior says that they didn't have anything that fancy. He says what was used was a 5 gal lacquer thinner can with the top cut off and a welding rod handle. Ok, I can do the bucket no problem. But where am I going to get the surplus plumbing to match that configuration? I've tried antique stores with no luck. As much as I've appreciated your help on this project, I think I'm in need of one more time. If I have to, I could antique some Home Depot pieces, but I don't want to. HELP!

hey Jer I hope this helps but the pipe with all of the funny bends appears to be a peice of gal. pipe that someone heated with a torch to go were they wanted it to go . I use to see this done in old buildings . As for the rest of the fittings I would look for a shop that tears done old buildings and sells off the remains. the old valves would be the hard part of the find. I hope this helps some. I will keep an eye out for anything that I think will help. Fun idea . Good luck.

Yeah, I need to figure out how to configure the correct name for such a company and type it in for the search. Thanks.

Here's a really poor quality pic that gives a look at scale compared to cars. The replica's measurements are 16X12 1/2. I think it's going to be a little bit smaller than the original.

You are definitely on a mission. This ought to be incredible when finished....if there is such a thing as finished.

Evel, I was just asked today by the sign/graphics guy, what is that? He said that he'd taken a magnifying glass to it and couldn't make it out. I said I didn't know. Were might we see that signature? Wer'e doing the later one. I think it's 1956 on. The early pic is 1952. Barris must have felt by this time he didn't have to tell people "what" he was.
