When we first tilted it up into position to install the stabilizing strut the top was floppy. You can see what it wants to do in the first pic. Apparently all it needed was that added weight of the plastic panels to make it unstable. I should have set it up in Terrys shop to test it. I asked the owner (on r.) of the blue Chev truck behind us to help us lift it up. As Tom and I left to go home and make some stabilizers for the sides I said if this comes crashing down on your truck be sure and let me know. He said he would do all his talking through his attorney that was his son. I asked him if his son rode in that truck as a boy. His reply was a look that spelled danger.

All is well. Yes Truk, were almost there.

That would not be good if it crashed down. Patiently waiting to see the final look. Good luck.

This is the first "mock up" to see what this looks like. The guy (Mike) next to me with the Chevelle said "there's a lot going on there." He's right. I need to figure out how to communicate what this is. It's becoming clear that a lot of people don't have a clue. Mike said that I need a video. He's right again. This isn't a gas station diorama.

That looks great Jerry. A copy of the vintage picture and the story of Jr. and his car along with what you already have would make for a very informative display. The shop front looks great though. You might have to tell the story over and over again.

This is how we left it tonight EXCEPT !, one of the judges said "leave the hood and trunk open for the points." OK. I don't have a pic of that. i think the judging is done Saturday afternoon. I can shut them then.

I didn't try knocking on the door to see if George might be there. Did he leave a light on? Do I call the cops? What to do?

    Looks fantastic Jerry.
Personally I would not be worried if not everybody would get it. My guess is that everybody who likes this type of cars will get it. The rest.. well don't worry about them, don't go overboard to get them to understand it.

Everyone should get it with the pictures and magazines you have there already, but it looks great and is really a great multi dimensional display with the acknowledgement of Jr. and his work, you and your work in building a car you admired, of the way cars were done before modern high tech and that a man can acheived a dream with the right arsenal of Family, friends and drive. Congratulations Jer on this accomplishment. Now, when are you gonna put some miles on Jr.'s car?

Well, we're going up to Salina Ks. to the KKOA bash at the end of this month. We will drive from the hotel to the park. I think each day, and I think they encourage everyone to participate in the "endless" cruise. Will that help?

The display looks great with the faucet and bucket. The sign tells a good story too. The drive sounds like fun for sure. Get some in motion pictures.

I forgot to add that I had a simulated, good sized "puddle" of water for the wet sanding area. It got ruined on the way to the show and could'nt be saved. Next time.

This is my neighbor Mike (on my r.), Jesse on my L and Doug beyond him. We're in the "front row" as you enter the building. I forgot to show the Von Dutch signature.

The guys that really "got it" were the ones that were "on the level." You know, the bubble is in the middle.
