Max is AWESOME! He built a pair of 97's for my Shoebox that I thought I would have on by now. Fast delivery, reasonable prices, good communication! Jerry, old dumb question-what size are the tires. I've read somewhere that Junior put 500x15 on at some point to get it " in the grass", but I can't find your post of what you went with. Man I wish I had half your talent and patience.
You keep your pinstriper busy - same guy every time?

 

Jr. said he had 560's to be able to turn easier. We'll see about the pin stiper.

These came back looking good (and smelling good).

 

Well, things are kinda up in the air right now. After realizing that my 70' year old body can't crawl around on the shop floor any longer it was time to do something about it. Iv'e been in therapy regarding my lower body. Verry painful, I'm just starting to see some improvement and I feel pretty good about it.
The car is slowly coming together. The front white wall's were damaged by incorrect cleaning method's (cracked). With the rear tire's tucked up in the rear body area I didn't know how I would get them out. Those tire's had never been cleaned besides soap and water. They were the answer to my problem. This lift came with a jack that slide's front to back. What a great setup. I had those tire's out without much hassle and made the swap.
The pinstriper is coming out week after next.

 

I don't remember a lift! How cool is that?

 

The pin striper comes tomorrow.

 

How much was the lift and where'd ya get it??

You'll find this interesting. This is the Goodguys March issue. It has the Lone Star Nationals that the car was at awhile back (post's 1414-1422). Somebody got a little too excited.

 

Well it just means you did such a good job of recreating Juniors car - that they thought it was the original - I say that's a good thing.

Hey guy's, I came across the video we made for the 2011 Houston show. I'm not sure if we can do this but son Dan is going to try to put this on here so everybody can see and hear it. It's an intro to the very first origins of the Junior coupe build up to now. Junior wanted me to know that he liked country music but, when Sharon (his girl friend/wife) was in the car it was Ricky Nelson, Elvis, Pat Boone etc, etc..

FINALLY! I had to remove some of the stripes (too fat). Scott just came out and touched everything up. Now I can get this thing cleaned up.

 

Well, the JC coupe has lost it's place in the trailer to the JL coupe. The Jl coupe is going over to be electrocuted.

This will give me the opportunity with the JL coupe gone to deal with something that's been nagging me. When the car was unloaded for the Dallas show (posts# 1004-05) all the difficulties resulted in the clutch being stressed more than usual. This has given me a clutch that chatters when it's engaged. Stay tuned.

 

Wow both cars look great Jer!! Can you build a clone of the Ayala version of the Bettancourt Merc next please?

 

Another thing that's been buggin' me is the primitive trunk latch on these cars. Here you see three different latch's (including OEM) that Iv'e tried to make work.

 

I've decided on using koolkemp Mom's latch out of her 90's Saturn.

 

This has got to go.
