Perfect! Really like those '56 Plymouth wheelcovers, too! Maybe I need to think outside the Fiesta/Lancer box once in a while!

i've always been told, and been under the assumption (i know, ass of u and umption) that they were a dealer accessory item... hell, might BE crestline trim, or maybe even victoria?

i've hears them called "spears" "gills" and "blister stone guard accessory trim" so there are a few eblah keywords you might use. remember, you can use the merc ones, but they're a bit longer... maybe 3" longer or so. i have a set of the merc ones and i can measure them against a stone guard to see how much longer they are if you like.

so you're talking about turning them sideways like the merc ones are mounted.

yep... you'd take the drivers side and passenger side pieces and put them on the opposite side of the car... but they will work mounted either top, bottom or front edge of the blister.

  19. For $1.47 plus tax, you can have the ones I took off when I went to the Merc spears. ;)

so, how do i get these trim pieces off without destroying paint and the pieces themselves? gravel guards, YV8 emblem, and Customline emblem, and the crests on the hood and trunk is what i plan to remove.

  23. Got some ideas for you. I will try and post up some pictures later.

i cant remember offhand about the hood/decklid emblems, but the stone guards are bolted on from the back. need to pull the back seat panel under the windows and reach down there with i THINK is a 1/4" socket and pull them (2) off, and i think also a clip thats holding them on as well.

i think, THINK the trunk and hood emblems are the same deal, bolted on from the back, the v-8 emblem might be the same.

    ps.

if you're gonna pull them off, you're gonna need to weld up the holes anyhow so dont worry about the paint bro

yeah, yeah. i just dont want to kill the paint. i want to limit the area that needs repair since a total repaint is still probably a couple years away. i won't be able to afford it til i'm done with school.

i hear ya. for fillin in them holes, use a 2" roloc medium grit and just use the edge... there are as many ways to fill em as there are holes that need filling, but i like the 16d nail trick. take a side cutter and carefully cut about 90% of the way through the shank, right below the head. hold the head of the nail in the hole and burn it in with the MIG. bend the nail shank over once and its off, roloc the stub of shank off and you're done, time for bondo and beer
