Been busy around the shop, but have managed to find some time to work on the project. I have the body work roughed in on the passenger rear corner, and finally found a location for the gas cap I bought at a swapmeet 10 years ago...It seems appropriate on this car. Made a pattern of the floor pan and cut it out of 1/8" thick steel and bolted it under the frame....then being an upholstery guy, I had to mock up a seat (and make motor noises).Started skinning the door, surprisingly it didn't take very long and worked out pretty well. This weekend I'm gonna build a wood buck of the door top and try my hand at hammerin' tin over the form...

    Skip,
"Limetime" green and it will be killer for Pros Pick at Columbus this summer, maybe some tribal ghost flames and I'd go orange with the interior. You seen any of those "Skunkskin" hides yet...............sweet!

Looks awesome! How far are you from Toledo? I'd love to see it in person.

Nice. Love the exposed trans. I'll have a full bellypan with an exposed transmission too. How do you plan on addressing the firewall? I'm building an A so my problems might be a little different than yours...but maybe you have some ideas to share? Again, nice work.

I like the exposed*******. we wanted toi do that but the rules for registration for road use down here state that it must be covered.

We have made a floor cover for ours but it can be removed for runs as needed. It does look good without the cover off and with the belly pan fitted.

Nice job you are doing there. What are you going to power it with?</font>

Hey thanks guys...Rocket, I'm about 2 hours from Toledo..just southeast of Columbus. You ever get down around there? Grimlok, interesting you mention the firewall. It's next on my to do list. I think I'm gonna weld it in the body and break a lip along the floor pan so I can bolt it in place. I'm thinkin' around the******* I'm gonna leave a 1/4" gap and seal it to the******* with a piece of rubber. The engine and trans are mounted pretty solid, so I figure 1/4" will allow for engine flex...atleast that's the plan [IMG] Hey Alfster, your car looks great! I'm usin' an 8BA for power...plan on building a slingshot style two deuce intake for it, but that will be about it for "speed" equiptment. BTW, what is your instrument cluster out of? I just bought a similar one off ebay...

That's exactly what the wheels are for... Ya know, I hate doin' bodywork, but the best thing about it is when you get to that point, it starts lookin' like something!
As far as the door goes... it took about 2 days to fab up the inner skeleton and get the hinges working. I cut the outter pieces on my band saw...the worst part was gettin the curve on the front to match the door jamb. Makin' the pattern for the skin and gettin' it tached in place only took a couple hours.

  17. Once it get's a little warmer... ROAD TRIP!!! [IMG]

The "Monza" fuel filler is cool, I have a little one on the oil tank on one of my Trumpets.
And the exposed trans is very cool...they smell good when they're hot.
    Nice machine
