i need help in locating some parts for the raffle motor

i need a set of SBF heads, 60 cc chamber, ready to go would be nice, we have gone theu 3 sets of rebuilders ,only to have them all be cracked

distributor, somebody contacted me earlier about a dual point accel, but never got back to me.i am still interested

intake and carb, i may have a lead on this stuff but throwin it up here just in case it doesnt pan out.

not looking for freebies , will pay for all parts, maybe even a finders fee at this point

Ryan has an ad on the classifieds looking for heads,he has been offering to pay for this engine from the beginning, thats going to defeat the whole purpose of doing it. i do not want to see him paying for parts for this thing!

if we can't locate the needed parts in the next couple of weeks .i am going to build another SBC, i have the parts and resources available to do one similar to last years.

    thanks to all.

What kind of intake are you looking for?

As for the heads, have you tried the local Ford truck boneyards? The Ford Explorers with 5.0s have GT40-esque heads...

  7. Hell I completely missed that it was a ford you were building. I got a SBF just sitting in the yard. Its an older 2V supposed to be a 302. You can have anyrhing you want off it. It was a running engine when it came home and its been wrapped so I'm pretty sure the heads are good.
Tell what head numbers to look for and I'll go give it a peak.
I don't know a whole helluva lot about small block Ford pieces.

Really? Will they bolt up to a mid 70s 302? Will it require any machine work or piston changes? How much more hp would we be talking here??

Django - The later model Ford Explorers and other trucks came with cast iron GT40 heads and GT40P heads, some of which are regarded as highly by the Mustang guys as the Mustang Cobra heads. Here's a jumping off point to learn more: http://www.themustang-net.com/tech_articles/gt40p.shtml

As for interchange, the small block heads pretty much all interchange. The 351W heads (and most aftermarket aluminum heads) do have larger bolt holes that require special bolt sleeves to bolt these heads onto a 289/302/5.0 block. Other than that and keeping an eye on head CCs to make sure you don't raise or lower your compression too much, they all interchange. (351C heads will also work with the 289/302/351W engines, but not without modification.)

holy*****, i guess you guys really want a ford raffle engine , thanks for all the replies and PM's.

i am going to reply to everyone that has offered parts, so be patient with me , i am also chasing stuff local

if anybody wants to help out financing the thing, any amount is much appreciated by myself and Ryan, the whole purpose of the event is to help fund the drags and the board.i want to keep Ryan from spending his money, and make sure whoever wins the motor gets a qaulity motor that will perform and last.

thanks a ton, i was amazed at the response this year, and am in the process of answering all PM.s

    'FAB, sent you a PM.

(Actually, this is just a lame excuse to send this puppy back to the top. Can you tell I'm into the idea of a SBF raffle engine?)

Just FYI - the GT-40P heads were designed specifically for the Explorer & the exhaust ports are slightly higher on the head (slightly different port shape too, but that can be easily remedied with a die grinder [IMG]) This causes some problems when putting them in earlier cars (specifically) as the entire header is raised up enough to cause interference problems...

Having said all of that - they're one of the best stock SBF heads out there & they're reasonbly priced.

Ryan is going to set that up when he gets back from holiday.

we wanted to be sure of the specs on the motor before we put it up.
