I hope it all goes this way, a friend of mine started a free show here 3 years ago. Best time I've had in years

there is a show in Coldwater Mi, where the cars get in free (as well as the passengers) and the spectators are the ones who pay to get in.

Always seemed like the right idea to me. Sadly, it always seems to rain that weekend.

  4. I guess they are doing it for the fun and comaraderie and not to make money.Lots of people forget that most of the car shows are designed to make money either for the person doing it or for the charity the profit goes to.

Sounds like a fun time.Best wishes for a great show!

There are lots of hidden fees the participants don't see in shows-
    sanipots,food/preparation expenses,grounds fees and upkeep monies,insurance,on-grounds ambulance fees,radio spots,walkie-talkie rentals,paper advertisement,parking accomodations/shuttles/traffic control,clean up fees,firewood (if season warrants it).

Then, you pray it doesn't rain or the price of gas doesn't skyrocket or idiots decide to piggyback on all your promotion for their own neighboring show...

Shows are a huge expense to promote and pull off...

A good show has no bands and no awards

  7. Of course the monetary reward would be nice. However I'd hate to see a good thing disappear. (ie show doesn't happen because it spends and gives away more money than it takes in) I really like the shows that give away hand crafted creations as trophies for people's choice or club's choice etc. Stuff like engine parts welded together and painted up. Saw a bunch of stuff like that on here before.

But can't beat a show and a chicken dinner for $15!

  8. One of the best small town shows in this area is the one put on by the Throttle Kings club in Piedmont AL every March, and they have the lowest entry fee of any show in the area, $10. Money tree and prizes donated by local businesses, no judging/ trophies (I really don't care much about trophies), very few trailered cars, mostly HAMB-friendly vehicles that are driven, a good DJ, the local Parks and Recreation board is involved with it, and the people are friendly.
