That thing looks so at home in front of that pub. It's the perfect place to grab a pint and stare out the window at that fine car.

I don't research customs much, haven't seen one done that way before. All that to say it is damn near perfect as a mild custom. I questioned a lack of wipers over there, but it just shows commitment to the style.
This was posted at 5AM (Austin time?), London is 6 hours ahead, so midday. Wonder how long before this and the owner are ID'ed.

  8. I’ve been in the UK every year since 2012 and to see an American car is pretty rare, but to see an early Ford like this in the wild is crazy!

    Notice: 40 Mercury bumpers.

Is that a '46 Ford gas filler door? That's a nice touch. I like it. This car does really well as a 4 door sedan too, all of the shapes work.

  15. I loved that car! So great to see it being used, it dissapeared after I sold it around 3 years back.

The original car came from an Ad on craigslist in New Hampshire got it home the shipping cost more than the car and I eventually rebodied it as the old one was fairly rotten and that body came via Germany and is believed to be an ex staff car. So it’s got a bit of a story!

  16. In 1978 I was working on a platform in the North Sea. On leave one Sunday morning, I was eating breakfast in a Pub in Stavanger, Norway when I heard the hot rod rumble of a car outside. I rushed to the window just in time to see a chopped and lowered '49 or '50 Mercury cruising down the street. I couldn't make it outside to catch it or get a picture before it was gone. Never saw it again.

Yea, that is one cool car especially to find randomly in the UK... I know I have been pretty excited to find about any old American car in some places like that. But, other than Australia, not sure I have ever tripped across something that cool in another country.

Not only do I know Harley, but I know that Pub as well, as we used to use that for lunch when visiting site as the building firm I used to work for 25 years ago were building the new apartments just around the corner in Brentford Lock :D That area is very different to how it looked 25 years ago though!
I suspect the owner maybe a friend of well known '50 Mercury Kustom 'Planet Voodoo' builder, Lance McCormack, as his workshop, Romance of Rust is literally about 50 yards further along that street from the pub, and his workshop building can just be seen in the background of one of the photo's.
