History A Mystery Roadster - Muroc and Bell Auto Part - Can the H.A.M.B. Identify It?

    IF we’re looking at the same roadster! Ha. But I’m with you. The more I look at the original photo with the mystery roadster in question, the more I think this is ‘34-‘35. There seem to be some 17” ford wheels… possibly 16”s.

    I remember you posting this T in one of the Gow threads but had quite forgotten the 33-34 grill. Really neat.

    So the Wise Phaeton is a definite clue… if not outright evidence of who owned our mystery roadster. The Winfield Bell spare cover and its proximity to the tub in the original photo seem to indicate a Bell connection, if only as a customer.

    Here’s a crop of our original photo along with another image of the Phaeton. It don’t believe we’re looking at the same meet at Muroc. Note that the Phaeton hasn’t yet received the custom grill shell it will be known for in the future. (I have to look in my notes, but the later shell is either Studebaker or DeSoto…)

    I also think our fella on the passenger side of the roadster is wearing a pith helmet...
