Wow! way to go with cleaning up someone else's hillbilly engineering.

    Ugly ducking to a swan!

I wouldn't have a tailgate just to show it off more

You could be completely insane and run a set of drag boat headers - the ones that are up and over the transom!

Better keep a low profile, if Ralph Nader sees that he'll blow a hole in the back of his pants. ;)

I think its weird, but it's good weird!

I really like your truck - NOW. I appreciate the amount of work you've done, and the time you've taken to do a good workmanship job. I think the rear-engined deal is just the sweetest idea, and you've done well cleaning it up and squaring away everything else. Fine effort - keep it up - we'll all be glad to see the finished product. Well, almost all...there'll still be some turds with scurrilous commentary, but they're at home with their computer stories - no REAL hot rod guy would find fault with what you're doing.

Dude i dont know if you dig this idea or not but this is what i would do. Build a crate around the engine like your hauling it. that would be pretty bad ass, the glass paks would give it away and you may have a problem with it getting too hot but that would be cool i think. Under the hood if you just built a cargo box out of sheet metal it would look cool. Or cover the bed ( i know you said you didnt want to) and run it with out a hood. that would get you some funny looks. and when someone asks you whats under the hood you could tell em "not much" and be telling the truth. Im excited about your truck man that thing is fucking sweet. Dont really dig the skulls on the dash but thats just me. I love that thing man. I wanna follw everything you do on this truck. I love it.

I always think I've got it all covered, then you guys come up with more questions, haha. I guess this thing does kind of ask for it, however.
-The Thrush glasspacks actually aren't terribly loud, they sound quite nice. They're the longer style on 2.25" pipe, about 7' each side.
    -Definitely not Vancouver, sunny Saskatchewan.
-Drag boat headers have been a thought, but they are MEGA dollar. I'm considering building myself some sort of a pair of headers for it.
-It drives straight as an arrow down the highway at 80mph. The steering has no feel though, it works fine, but it feels like you're just turning a wheel on a bearing. I think a manual rack in place of the power rack will help.
-I have a louvered panel to weld on to build a tailgate of sorts for it. It was fun for a season without one, but it's dangerous on the highway with people tailgating trying to get a better look.
-Oil changes are the best, I don't even need a jack, I just stand in the bed and can reach it all.
-The skulls on the dash were a fast way of hiding the fact that I haven't bodyworked the cluster yet, haha. The airbrushing hides the grinder marks until I can finish it, they will be left out of the final product.

Rig that low deserves to be a CUSTOM.

I vote for straight miles deep black paint, not cuted up with "tricks" of any kind.
Bar or tube grille with round headlight bezels and Codoba rings set into a seam filled, rolled pan inclosure carrying nerf bars.
Loose the hood mounted turn indicators and mount them behind the grille.
Ditto at the rear on the pan and nerf bars, but below frenched tail ilghts and stock tailgate minus script.
Cragar or chrome wheels with knock offs.
Bench seat and tilt scope column shift steering column/wheel from a Toro.

I like the packing crate idea, a lot. Why not do a hard shell bed cover on gas struts, but covered to look like the bed is full of packing crates of various heights, thus clearing the dual quads.

Might not hurt to ballast that front end with a couple of hundred pounds.

Put a stuffed squirrel in the engine compartment with a wheel and a belt running into the anti tunnel.heehee. A couple of pin-ups pasted to the radiator in front of him for motivation.

I like the idea of driving it with no hood and some kind of cover like a 'wood crate' over the engine

    :)

Or just find an old bed cap with no window's so no one can see the evil that's inside..:D

Seriously, this is pretty damn cool and i'm thinking is going to be a lot of fun..Both driving AND watching the people who see it.

I agree! Mount a pull-start engine up front or a big hamster wheel!
