Like i need another project, but ive wanted a 32 roadster for a while, and have been planning on picking up a brookville body for a while but have never been able to save up enough $$ to buy one, well i finally got one, Bobbleed had the unassembled one in the class adds, and he out interested in 32 tudor trades, well i had one to trade, so we worked out the details and a deal was struck. he was gonna be up in Milwaukee in a couple of weeks so we figured id meet him there and make the trade, and we did. I had also known about a 32 chassis that was under a five window coupe that was updated with a new chassis, its been sitting in a barn for a few years but its still in pretty good shape, with a little bit of cleaning and going throu things i should have a pretty good base to build the roadster from. the chassis has a chrome chassis engineering beam axle in it, 40 spindles and brakes, f100 steering box, reversed eye spring, split bones, tube shocks, the trans is a 39 unit that is supose to have lincoln gears in it, it also has a 40 ford banjo rear. it had an olds rocket in it when it was running around, but that was long gone, so i decided to go olds. so i hun g the motor in its respective place and proceeded to make some motor mounts that mimic some posted here on the hamb. no i just have to get some super glue for the big 32 model kit i have. jeff
Definately too shiney and not near enough rust for you. I'll be up this weekend to take it off your hands. It's gonna be cool....especially when you fire it up and take it for a spin in that cold Minnesota snow. Be sure you wear a red Santa hat for that first drive!!!
its like a giant IKEA living room set, only its not swedish, and you can drive it when you're done. Does the body come with one of those neat international instruction manuals with no words?
How do you know about a chassis like that for a couple years.....you have great patience...as far as the body, looks alot easier than that stock car I have...you will be driving that before the snow melts.
Kool. That one should go together for ya pretty fast since it is fresh and everything. LOL You get all the kool stuff
Titus: I put my first body together back in 2000. Was very intimidating! With the help of a local body shop to help with a few problems it turned out great. The big problem for me was the upper front corners of the doors, they just don't fit the cowl very good. We have had the local shop do quite a few of them for our customers and have been pleased with the results. Sure beats waiting 8-12 months.
Cool....... and I got this, which will be an easy build for me.... the whole idea for the roadster was to build a car to sell for a down payment on a house..... and get all the shit I need for the 3 window......but I am so busy at the shop I don't have time for such a major project right now.... So I can fix the roof on the sedan and move some stuff around and I'll be well on my way....... Anyone need a tudor? haha
Titus, How about a step by step w/pictures as you put that roadster body together. I'm sure there are a few on here that would like to see how one goes together. Like me for instance.
That wasnt the plan when you left here for the chassis?Ha HA ,I knew it was too good to sit under the 5 window.Whered you get the red wheels already? It looks like we mised the snow at bobs just in time, that looks like it sucks!...
thanks for the kind words, i have a few side jobs to take care of too, so the progress wont be lightening fast, but im sure ill get it going soon. I sure will try and post a set by step, at least i can edit out my screw ups! Pat, it just kinda seemed like a good place for the roadster body, i had the wheels in the rafters, they were green. jeff
Very cool Jeff, I am sitting about 4 hours West of you right now. Going to load up some goodies for the shop today
