When I first started reading the posts on the site a year ago, I really didn't understand the passion the majority of HAMB'rs have for "traditional". It did take a while but I think I'm starting to get it.

When I first built my truck it had Centerlines. While I didn't completely care for them, there wasnt much out there that I had wanted to replace them with. I did like the Radir's but way out of my $ range.

After a while I began to think some steel wheels might look good. I held out for a while and bought a set from someone here on the HAMB that were full of surface rust and needed love. After a good blasting and alot of filler primer, I sprayed them black, mounted some new rubber and installed. With a 30.00 set of hubcaps this is what it looked like.

I liked it so much that I just couldn't stop staring at it. But then I saw how crappy my old primer job was looking. Not ready to paint just yet, I decided to lay down a coat of new primer.

Anyhow, I wanted to say thanks to all of the guys/gals that post here and helping lost sheep to find their way. :)

  2. The Steelies look great, and take the truck back many years. Wheels are huge, and sometimes it's not noticed, until a change is made.

    Very Nice ! ....... Johnnie.

Cool - early Chevy PUs are kinda rare, especially in full-fendered form.

    What's the running gear?

    Have fun!

    (I have a '36 and '34)

I bought mine from a guy near Alpine (almost in Tecate:eek:). It has a very rare 350/350:rolleyes: but that's what it came with. I have been looking for a 348/409 for it that doesnt cost more than gold. Someday....

The black wheels and black walls give it the look it needs. Good move.

Now cover the primer with finish paint in the color of your choice and have something really really nice.

Truck looks great. I love messing around with wheels, you can change the look of your vehicle drasticly in a few minutes. I usually have 2 or 3 sets of wheels and tires ready to go for each vehicle I have.
