Meanwhile, the restoration project began with the repair of the trunk, rear fenders and floors. I do not have a second car, so I can not do without the merchandise for a long time and the money does not grow in the trees!
And as usual, the floor is a gruyere cheese

My friend Diego Orozco and his workshop manager showed off every detail of the new film and in a very short time: 4 weeks! And as you can see, in the end he "cleaned his face" to the merc to go out and show it while the next stage of the restoration is reached.

And from that moment I enjoyed it and traveled wherever I could running without problems and as you could see, I installed a propane-butane gas carburation equipment to save for its final restoration, (here in Mexico the gas was expensive) 22g.jpg 168998_111837812223698_100001924407364_104249_5134169_n.jpg 180831_108114849262661_100001924407364_72708_1382352_n.jpg MERC DE VENADO.jpg PA120700.JPG Tequila Herradura.jpg 4x4 la primavera 005.JPG Imagen 134.jpg Imagen 343.jpg Imagen 356.jpg

Meanwhile, the fruit of my savings made them a motorcycle, to have a good time in the meantime. First a Honda Shadow 600 and then a VLX 1300... Imagen 434.jpg Imagen 436.jpg Salu2.jpg IMG_7148.JPG IMG_7149.JPG IMG_7155.JPG

    And in February 2017 the restoration began 5cd08893-2bf0-4115-9162-af3bd7497d25.jpg 6f5089de-c181-4d39-9735-fceb4aefc0da.jpg 7ebcc13c-4eda-471f-9e8f-df9a07cb2205.jpg 44b08907-9ccd-4b35-8b41-dd1ee3e39dde.jpg 952dbf20-75b9-49aa-9ce1-524b155484ea.jpg abbc2c32-9648-441d-89fd-4ef623d6890c.jpg b7836d80-1580-40e5-8704-a4a1cf40b718.jpg be256957-71dc-4a88-bfd4-273ec63d9a84.jpg c6f53a39-b372-4bb8-b598-38c24123263b.jpg c4138f6b-06eb-4e02-9cfd-7c227e5eb9db.jpg d4421051-7a95-4cea-8aed-69754b773d0a.jpg f4d1ecfa-c8d0-4208-a0e6-b5d9b4c133fb.jpg
It was a lot of rust and a lot of work to do!

As usual in these models, the bottom has disappeared and it is necessary to put new metal 03.01.jpg 03.03.jpg 03.04.jpg 03.05.jpg 03.07.jpg 03.10.jpg 03.12.jpg 03.13.jpg 03.14.jpg 03.16.jpg

Color tests were performed, but we were far from the right tone

At this point I was very afraid of getting the tone I am looking for, very close to the legendary blue Washington, but with a touch that distinguishes it from others. Here I have seen many threads of these cars and I have seen magnificent colors, but as the final destination of the merc is mild custom, I have decided something more classic and correct.

Awesome work! Buy that painter a respirator. That dust mask won't protect his lungs from paint fumes.

And as already said here: the correct way is with the right engine, I looked everywhere for a flathead and believe me that they are scarce in these places. And the friends who already knew about my project helped me find one and found one 750 km away. 13493754_260625410963514_1669849769_o (1).jpg 13523680_260625407630181_339477616_o.jpg I was riding and working on a 1943 Ford truck for the distribution of construction materials, I contacted the owner and he sent me a video in which he looks and listens working great, hence I extracted this pic

Sure friend, without a doubt it is the right thing, but as you will see in this thread there are very curious things that happen all the time with the workers here in Mexico, but that does not doubt their quality with their hands.

New problems I found in the process: The two bumpers are the same! Pfff both are rear. We will perform a surgery so that they are correct and then go straight to the chrome.

Trivia for the HAMBOHOLICS: my friend Pepe has a merc that I have seen since it was a lot of garbage and I think it will be the car that all custom lovers would like to have. I present to you Pepe and his famous in HAMB merc 50 '. The trivia is: Who has seen this merc in a thread here?

A C4 is good for this engine, but it is necessary to make it, handmade of course! My friend Gil helps me in this madness taking care of the engine, start from scratch¡

Customized 2x2 intake manifold manufactured from strokes, Let's make the project a little more exclusive and unique, what can go wrong?
