Don't have much $$ to spend right now, but couldn't p*** up the 'Reno' swap meet that was newly relocated to Sacramento this year. Lots of neat stuff, but not much I needed take home til I hit the very last row of the swap. Cool old guy was selling boxes of old car mags (my weakness) for a quarter each. Seemed like no one else was even looking at the stuff. When I'd made a pile he suggested I just buy everything he had... for $20.

Turned out to be over 400 mags. here's just the fifties and sixties stuff (about 300 mags!) Only bad part was the look my wife gave me when i was unloading the truck!

Nice score! Yeah I get "The Look" all the time. It's easier to ask for forgivness than to ask for permission.

Wow that was a heck of a deal. Just don't let her know how much they would sell for on eBay.

Finally scored a deck lid and rear panel for my 31 coupe, $115, lots of other stuff for cheap, a very large swap with low prices.

Good deal on the magazines! Do you think alot of vendors left the Reno meet for Sacramento? How do you think Reno will be next week? Anyone from here going to Hot August Nights?

Great score. I wish I had the time to find some of the old issues and articles I have been trying to find at the swap meets, most of the clowns I come across want $5-$10 a piece!

That was a great swap, I scored un-cut A roadster windshield posts that were totally *****in', '48 rear bones for $20.00, and a bunch of other stuff I needed. Great swap

Yeah, wives can be funny like that... When you bring in boxes of magazines they feel threatened that they'll lose storage space for their shoes.

It was a good swap meet, glad it was a success for John Sweeny. I'll be at Hot August Nights next week, planning to hit the swap on Friday. I heard several sellers say they were going up there. Only score I made was a vintage Radio Jet wagon that I am going to redo for my grand daughters. Great find on the bargain mags!

Anyway the day was great, meet lots of really nice people..Talked Strombergs, linkage, and intakes all day and love it..
John Sweeny did a great job..He's talking about doing two a year..

Wow I love the little mags! they are always a great read! As for the looks, I used to get them too until I put a bag over her head... Now I don't get any looks anymore...maybe the bag shouldn't have been plastic :0

funny you should ask ... Arco Arena wants us to hold 4 of them there and make it like Pomona North:eek:

NO WAY .... we will make a decision later this year if we wil continue to Hold the Reno Swap meet in Sacto:confused:

it was a HUGE success in spite of a "few" who tried to torpedo the swap meet in order to support the HAN machine .

it was a real "traditional" swap meet, car guys selling garage treasures ..one day ..
and a few commercial rod shops and services there... many of the vendors stopped off at Arco before going up to the First Annual HAN swap meet ..

we cut up 1,000 lb of cold water melon and distributed free slices to all the vendors ..(Harrah did that way back in 66-68 --) every body like that idea

Yes I know the food was too high priced .. but hey I got you guys free parking -- if it's there next year I will work on getting food prices in line..
but you come for the Rust not the food!! Right ?

any way link to here renoswapmeet.com to find out what will happen in 2009 ....

and email us your thoughts ---and ideas ..
