A beautiful hot rod to begin with, thanks to Bill Niekamp, a faithful restoration thanks to "Jake", and in the end, we all get to benefit by seeing it, whether in person or in pictures. Thanks to all those involved for creating, and then saving, an important and impressive part of our hot rodding history! And thanks @J.Ukrop for creating this thread.
The day this photo was taken, Jake & I sent quite a bit of time with Mr. Niekamp, hearing stories of the cars he built prior to the roadster. It was quite fasinating , & the parts & methods used were very interesting .
First time I saw it in person was at the Nationals. I was al over it for ideas. It is still one of my all time favorites.
Here's a few photos over the course and evolution of the Niekamp roadster. Bonneville When it was owned by Delmar Brink Bill Niekamp Drag racing at the 2018 RPM Drags
Correct me if I’m wrong, Isky’s roadster also used an Essex frame. Wonder what the reasoning was for the use of that particular frame.
