Truer words were never spoken. If you want an example, re-read your posts here. Then ask yourself who's making the topic personal. I was just discussing something that interested me on a discussion forum. Nothing more, nothing less. I ***umed everyone could voice their opinions and they have. As I said, you could have moved on anytime if you didn't have anything constructive to say. If you want to continue to keep coming back and being argumentative, or you want to position yourself as the anonomous internet tough guy, that's cool. Others have chosen to agree or disagree with my original posts in a reasonable adult manner and I've appreciated their input.

Thanks for the nomination. Much appreciated. If I was the editor, I'd have to start with asking about your and you're and write and wright. (edit: ad and add) But don't take that personally.

I've suggested several times to end this thread if the subject was inappropriate or irrelevant. I hope a moderator makes that decision. At the same time, I don't think I have to eat anyones **** here just because they have a higher post count.

For what it is worth I agree with the OP. I understand the idea of not wanting to have your time wasted by people that are dreaming, and couldn't come up with enough money to buy your car if they sold everything that they owned, but that burden is on the person who is looking for money. I wont waste time calling about something that I am not interested in or that I can't afford, however my problem is with sellers who do not supply any info on the car, and then get mad about the questions that you ask. Your ad may say that your car has a small block Chevy, but you need to be prepared to answer questions about what size, what type, and what was done to it. The seller get mad because his ad states what engine is in the car, but ony he knows what it is, and he did not translate his thoughts into a proper message so that someone not familiar with his ramblings will be able to read his mind. How can I know if this car will work for me, until I contact the seller for more info. Also pictures tend to tell more about a car, then words in an e-mail or over the phone. Just because I ask for pic, this does not make me a picture collector.
I am looking to buy a racecar. I have been e-mailing a guy that has one for sale. His price is higher than I would like but I would pay it for the perfect car. When I asked him 10 very specific questions, he only answered 4, and the answers were pretty vague. When I asked for pics, he said that he had some on his facebook page with a video. I have to have someone with a facebook page go there for me, and there are no pics that can be found, and the video is 8 seconds long, shot from 100 feet away, in the dark. I will keep after him because, this may be the perfect car for me, but it still seems like he cant be bothered to sell the car that he wants to sell.

LOL, Then count me stupid as well. I've been buy and selling motorcycles for years. Buy 'em high, sell 'em low. I just don't tell my wife.

If West coast is the best place to buy a car, that's good information. Thanks. T

    Ok you're counted.

I really don't have alot of time for dip****s sellers or buyers (they are easily identified). If you are serious (have already asked your wifey), have cash (keep your rusted out '94 Z71 stepside), realize that shipping to the other side of the country or the world is costly and know what you are looking at when I post 12 or more pics and a page of information... then ask away.

Otherwise go window shopping with your girlfriends.

I disagree - I think that post is a great summary of how buyers should behave. I also don't believe it was directed specifically at you but any buyer who's not man enough (hence the "girlfriends" comment) to be serious about buying and be prepared financially to be buying. Any serious seller should respect a buyer who can tick off the above qualifications as that shows respect of the seller. I think that's what it all comes down to - mutual respect. Of course, the world now is sorely lacking in that department, thus the reason that makes someone start a thread like this in the first place.

Some of you are way too uptight. This **** is supposed to be fun! A-hole sellers, waste your time buyers, it's all part of the landscape. Damn, I wish I had something to sell right now!

I recently sold a Studebaker convertible project car. Guy came over and and tried to convince me its a parts car and offered me a stupid offensive price. I laughed and told him no. Two weeks later someone drove cross country to buy the car for three times what the lowballer offered on top of the money he had to spend to drive cross country.

If the original guy would have leveled with me and not tried to insult me and the car by telling me a convertible was a parts car I would have continued the convo and probably sold him the car.

Seller wants to get the most for his car, buyer wants the best deal its natural. Dont be a ****head and everything will be ok even if no sale is made.

Waaaaaa, waaaaaa. You want to sell it, then you have to put up with the tire thumpers-it's a fact of life

  10. Naw, I found a great frame for my '36 less than an hour away in the middle of the Chicago Rust Belt. Yeah, the guy took the body off for a project he was doing. Said it only had 40k miles on it, and he got it from the West Coast...:D

This thread is dumb? I think the "Like to weld without a hood?" thread sounds a whole lot dumber. I'm an FNG too, I just bought a project truck after a long search. Many project vehicles advertised on the HAMB don't state ***le or not. This generates a call to find out. I know there are HAMBER's here that know how to get ***les for vehicles but after losing a project motorcycle I bought at a swap meet with a bill of sale I don't pursue anything without a ***le. If I bothered Mr. "serious inquirys only" with a phone call to find out I apologize. Cash is king, don't call unless you can buy outright.

I guess my take on this is that it works both ways - there's dip-wad sellers and buyers, and who's more right with how they are?

As a buyer, if I approach a seller with a "chip on the shoulder", "don't bother me" at***udes when I ask questions I'll walk. Ain't much in this world I need so bad that I have to put up with someone who's mad that I asked about something I may put $$$ into. And no, I don't buy everything I ask about. Does anyone??

As a seller? Same thing. Potential buyer has a 'tude coming in and they're gonna get 'tude back at 'em. It works both ways.

As a former Ford parts counterman & Manager I got my share of good, bad and ugly - from "thanks, I'm glad I came in" to "I should've known not to come here" And- talk about 'tudes! They come in all shapes & sizes.

I think the biggest thing to understand when buying OR selling, is learning to deal with John Public. If ya can't deal with that - don't go there.

I've done my share of swapmeets too; attutudes don't discriminate, and that goes for both sides of the table (buyers & sellers). I just deal with it.

Anymore, I don't have any trouble with tirekickers. I've found that sometimes what starts as an "oh God here we go again" conversation can sometimes end up a successful transaction.

I apologized again for having an opinion. I guess in your world anyone who doesn't agree with you is being disrespectful. I understand where you're coming from.

Would you please list the times I've shown lack of respect for anyone who didn't demean me first?
    I'll wait...

Do you actually read the posts here, or do you just make stuff up so you can join the pile on?

In what way do you know how long I've been looking for a car? You must be another one of those mind readers.

I don't ***** about sellers. I sell vehicles myself. In my original post I wondered why people who were asking for my money would try to stop me from inquiring about what they were selling.

I didn't ***** about shippers. I've used them and they're great. I was just saying that additional shipping costs above and beyond the cost of the car is money I would rather not spend if I could help it. If you have all kinds of money and want to invest a lot more than the purchase price, if it makes you feel like a better person than me, go for it.

"Either get a car, get busy or maybe just find another hobby"
As someone here said, who died and left you king?

rmak - we seriously don't need this sort of drama here. This forum is for traditional hot rods and Customs.
