:D I'm with everyone else. I don't have a plasma cutter or tig because of the price. If Miller offers a good deal, I would be tempted to buy both machines. :D

I agree with 5windowcoupe - a discount would be great but how about a 12 to 24 month 0 interest "credit deal" for qualified buyers? I can easily spare a bill a month but finding $1200-2000 seems to be stealing from the car budget.

Not to mention the "new refrigerator/new washing machine/new whatever" budget :-/

Being a self employed furniture maker any tool I can't cut or shape wood with is not a tax deduction.
So other tools come under the car parts or tools for hobby budget.
My Miller wirefeed I bought was a great bargan so I bought that last year - what an improvement over the lindy. A plasma cutter would be a great improvement over an old wood vertical bandsaw and a die grinder. But the price woouldhave to be right.

I just bought a Hobart 187 mig from Cyberweld.......next on my list is a 220V plasma cutter....either a Thermal Dynamics 38 or an Esab.....BUT, if Miller gets on board with the Alliance, be it a discount or whatever, I'll look at theirs and maybe even consider one.......price will most likely dictate my decision.........

for the right discount, i may be ready to upgrade my off brand 60A plasma that wont cut 3/8" like I need it to. Im looking for: A) Discount, B) interest free payment plan would be great, C) maybe free shipping, D) discount on consumables (or maybe some thrown in.) It all comes down to price. I use Lincoln machines for my welders, but have used and like Miller a lot as well.

Welcome to the HAMB Frank, always great when a big company wants the little guy's business.

Price sells. My local Lincoln & Hobart distributors will add $100+ worth of free accessories or discount on a thousand dollar purchase just by asking if they'll do the "trade show" deal. Then there's also ebay for a hundred dollar discount 24/7. Really wish you guys had done this a few months ago when buying my hobart cutter. TIG deal and I'm on board. Thanks for listening.

How about a 10% cash discount vs. a $50 mo. payment plan? I think that would most likely be enough to generate some extra business for ya'll and, hopefully, still be a winner on your books.

And if all goes well, you'll spread the same discount to the migs and tigs, right?!

    Hi Frank,

What would be reasonable is somewhere between 10% and 15% off. The option of a payment plan would be excellent as well. As mentioned, free shipping wouldn't hurt either unless there was a way to deal with the purchase through a local dealer. As gas rises, so does the shipping, and on a heavier item, it can eat up that discount real quick.

I hope you have great success with this program so that it can be expanded throughout your product range. I wouldn't mind adding a TIG & MIG to the new garage along with the plasma cutter.

Between Miller and Coker, my membership will be repaid for many years to come. Thank you for sponsoring this fine forum.

I would certainly be interested - discount with a decent payment plan I would go for it - if you offered a 220v welder at some point with a similar discount/payment I definitely be in.

As most have said, price is a factor. But a lot of guys are going to want something more than an entry level machine. I buy stuff with the expectation that I'm going to have it for a long time, and try to get a machine that will handle anything I might want to do not just now, but down the road. So I'm not interested in a lightweight hobby machine. If I can't afford one of the bigger ones, I'll wait until I have the money for one. In terms of price, Miller often has big discounts through distributors at shows like PRI, SEMA, Street Rod Nationals, etc. I don't see why they couldn't offer similar discounts to Alliance members on a regular basis. And it would be helpful to do this through their dealer network so that we can buy from out of state and not pay sales tax. That can add several hundred buck to the cost of the machine.

    AMEN brother

discount similar to the "show specials" with free shipping, throw in a t-shirt(or boxers). apply it to the migs and tigs too. i already have a miller TIG, small MIG, and plasma, but i need a bigger MIG and down the road a bigger plasma. i will buy miller discount or not because i have a supplier that gives me GREAT prices, but for the rest of the fellas a discount would be cool.

Price does it for me. I'm casually looking for a plasma, and of course Miller is top dog for me!
Payment plans always make me leery, but a discount that makes it worthwhile to not buy local (shipping, etc...) really matters to me.
And American made equipment. If it's not USA made, at least let us know?
    Thanks !

Hate to post twice in a thread like this, but do you guys have training sessions around the country?

Bet you could find enough of us to do "HAMB welding/cutting clinics" occasionally. Maybe that's where you offer the discount?

Frank, if you guys really, really, really want to make a splash..... search around the site til you understand HAMBAndy, and do something nice for him or his project.

    Thanks for listening. Again.

First, thanks go out to Miller & Ryan for working hard to make things happen for us little guys.

I've never used a plasma cutter before mainly because I can't afford one. So I think I'm in line with everyone looking at discounts on price. I'd also like to have it local via your distributors so I can actually touch a machine, ask specific questions, etc.

My MIG is Miller & I know the quality is there. Between my torch & cut-off wheel, I've managed to get by w/o a plasma this long, but...

I have been pricing Miller plasmas as a result of their recent promotion ads in Hot Rod and R&C in which they offer a $100 rebate for purchases before a date in Sept. As much as I want one I just can't justify allocation of that much money. My ballpark limit is in the $800 range and I just don't see that happening.

For welders and plasma cutters, Miller, would be my choice.

Alliance member "needs" in a deal:
    1. Decent prices and very low or NO shipping on the initial purchase are needs.
    2. Local service on Alliance bought units is also a need.
    3. Regular warranty usable through any local dealer is a need.

Any other terms you can negotiate on top of these "needs" would be great. Its the after purchase conditions that make a low purchase price not worth the deal.

Thanks for your efforts, Ryan. When are you going to negotiate a "deal" for Victor torches?

I brought a miller plasma cutter at a local car show last year and just want to say, I love it. I was pricing them out and found out they were giving good discounts over the store prices so I brought it there. It was even cheaper than my dad's discount from miller. I will admit I grew up using miller welders so I hope I'm not just bias. We have owned quite a few (welders) over the years. We have 12 in use right now. Very few problems with them and excellent resale value when we upgrade.

Okay enough bragging up Miller back on topic. I'll agree people would look for discount, free financing, extra goodies( tips, etc.) and a good tech support line for the occasional problems.

I should mention I did buy the next size up than what they are showing. I brought the 625 but I haved used the smaller 375 and it works great just don't get carry away with the thickness of the metal your cutting.
