While were in between roadster projects here at the shop, we are going to channel Cory's (capt poty mouth's) '37. Here is the before shot:

Last night the springs in the front and rear suspension were removed so we could get a better idea of how the thing would look. The wishbones in the front will be split to allow the front to come down about 5" and the rear crossmember will be replaced with a straight one, moved foreward about 6" to shorten the wheelbace and lower the rear at the same time.

Here's Hooligan and the Capt'n working on the front sping:

The floor of the cab and bed were cut out the night before last. Here's Brandon giving the torque tube more clearance with a little trimmy-trim:

With the bed just set back on, here is how we left it last night. Tonight we will split the wishbones and start on raising the engine and trans up to maintain the driveshaft angle...

I only got one picture off last night before the battery in my camera died!!! [IMG] Last night we removed the front axle and then raised the engine up about 4 inches. New engine mounts were fab'ed up last night. Tonight we will be preparing the frame for the new front and rear crossmembers....

That is awesome .I am curious about something though .If you haven't changed the geometry of the rear axle or trans and engine .why do you have to raise the motor to change the drive shaft angle ? I hope this doesn't sound like a dumb *** question .I would like to know for myself in the future .thanx . swaZZie

To answer your question Swazzie, we actually are changing the geometry of the rear suspension. It's getting lowered about 6", so to maintain the drive shaft angle, the engine and trans will be moved up (also to gain some oil pan clearance).

The rear crossmember will be replaced with a straight one that is moved forward in the ch***is 7". To remove the crossmember, the rivets were ground down and punched out...
