Well, it has happened ywice in as many weeks. My wifes late model has left her stranded late at night. So being the gentleman I am, I let her drive the 2000 Ranger (ok, thats also a late model) while I relied on my ol 54 Chevy. It fired right up these last two morings even though the temps were minus something. The thing gets arond in snow better than my Ranger in 2wd mode. A great heater it has not but who cares? The good thing is that it has kept us going! I am so happy that I am reconsidering selling the ol girl, I might keep the car as well.
I know what you mean, man. I used to drive this '92 Dodge Spirit R/T, real fast, but the thing would leave me stranded every five minutes. I swear I only got to drive it for half the time I owned the stupid thing... Fast forward to now, I'm driving my '66 Olds (Yeah, not technically a hot rod, but the same basic thing) and it has NEVER left me on the side of the road. I love simple old vehicles. So little can go wrong. No tubes, no computers, nothing. I don't know when I'll ever want or have a new car anymore.
i plan on driving my comet in the next few weeks and everybody tells me not to because the salt and stuff, but i tell them, what do you think they did in 62? Parked the 62 comet or whatever in the garage and started driving there 4wd suv??My comet has only had a hard time starting this year because it was negative something and she was outside all night, but she started after i charged the battery!! nate
While it is not possible for me to drive a hotrod everyday,I used to.My 51 went great in the snow!Just pushed it to the side.
yeah had score of ppl flip when i told them the 50' is all i got, 4 inchs to the rails and no air ride. shit man it sat out in a feild for 25 plus years driving it a little aint gona hurt anything i will absoluty not own anything new then then 82' lol they are cursed or somthing dam long live the hard core tim
I know it is not traditional or anything, but the only car i currently own is a 78 Caprice. The first day it got real cold my Dad's 2000 Impala froze up and it took him like 1/2 and hour to finally get on the road.My parents figured there was no chance the 78 was going anywhere, but i walked out unlocked it and started it on the first crank, and the needle was practically on E. Also, i have never been in a car of any age with a better heater. I love old cars. Lil Joe
hey kid, I was in one of those Caprices last night. You are right on the heater!!!!! And for the record, driving your old car in the sub zeros is not hardcore, riding your MTB in them is. I spent close to 5 years commuting by bike and never drove in the cold.
I've been driving my 62 Ranchero every day for about 3 months, I haven't had a problem yet. In the immortal words of dondanno, "If your ignition module takes a shit, you're fucked. If you have points, you can fix it."
