Many times on the HAMB these is discussion of cars and attribution to the original builders. Well I want to shout out to **** Kiusalas who is a cl*** guy. Back in the 80s my best friend and I built a nostalgia flathead race car. 2x4 tubing frame, lots of swap meet parts including the 12 spokes and a Highland Machine quickchange. Bought the body from Anderson Industries and found a 3 3/8 by 4 flathead built for circle track in the 70s and never run. We had a lot of fun with that car, back then even in NH we could field six or seven flathead comp cars at nostalgia events. But we sold the car to move to a FED with the flathead. The car p***ed through other owners, staying reasonably intact. With the p***ing of the last owner, **** K. totally rebuilt the car and, being a real gentleman, put our names on the cowl. Doesn't get much better than that! I just spent the last 11 days in the ICU holding my wife's hand and getting these pictures this morning from a mutual friend was a real treat. (wife has recovered well enough to return to nursing home yesterday thank God). Kind of interesting that this old warhorse, built as a tribute to D/A's of the 50s and 60s, now is becoming a vintage race car in its own right, 30 years after its creation. (but it really needs the old five spokes back on the rear)
What a great tribute. Would just love to hear it run. So glad to hear your wife’s doing better. Thank you for sharing John!
Outstanding story. Kudos to **** and the original builders, John & **** for building and maintaining this great little machine! Many times in Life (if you're fortunate), you get to meet some outstanding individuals and this story is a good example. Thank You for p***ing it along and it's Great to hear that your Wife is doing better.
Great story, very cool car, but the real story here is the people involved. Many good thoughts heading out to you and your wife. I've said it time and again, no doubt the cars are cool, in fact that's what brings us all together, but it's really about the people..............................Don.
Putting the original builders names on it is indeed a cl*** act. Glad to hear your wife's health is continuing to improve.
That is what this H A M B website is all about , p***ing on the news of the good guys in our H A M B neighborhood, not about a bunch of MAN Bickering, LETS TALK CARS !!!!!!!!!!!!!
