Looked at your pictures. It wouldn't have worked (visually acceptable) without flaring the tips. Nice touch!

Mine (with slash cut ends)... my only complaint is on a drive over 2+ hours, it is rough. My ears were still ringing the next day after we drove back from Austin (1200 miles).
