Love his smile in the first pic...he was loving it. For many of us this is the season of our lives; people getting older and in frail health. I love this place; lots of guys with pretty hard bark on them, but come up with a pic of a kid or a parent, or a need, they're there.......My prayers............slide

I love the roadster. I lost my Dad in '91 and I still miss him everyday. He wasn't really into cars but he took me to the drags, the Indy speedway and the local circle track races when I was a kid. We were both tool & die makers for General Motors so we had a lot in common. When my Mom and Dad divorced (I was around 11 or 12) I chose to live with my Dad. I wish I would have made it a little easier on him. I thought I knew everything back then. I could tell he was very proud of the cars I built. If he were still here I would take him to our Saturday breakfasts, he would have liked that.

Great pics ! I'm glad to hear that pop got a ride in the roadster . Your dad's cool (mom too) . They were just gushing about how they loved the roadster the other day . Don't know how many times your mom said how it'd make a nice birthday gift to her , lol !!!

Did ya lay down some rubber for pop ?!?!

Thanks for the "Kick in the ****", I need to get my car drivable,so I can take Mom and Dad, for the ride they certainly deserve, after putting up with me for all these years. A few years ago, I arranged for a good friend to show up at my Dad's birthday party, and take him for a blast in his 454 powered 34 Ford 3W, and what a grin he wore for days.;)

Great day. The next time you take him for a ride let him know he has a bunch of "Fathers that have already p***ed" riding with you guys in spirit. See him as much as you can because as many guys have already said you will miss him one whole hell of a lot when he's gone.

That proves what I've always suspected. Hot rods are good for what ails you! You both had a great day because of your roadster. I had many great days with my dad and my roadster. Dad's gone 8 years now, and I still miss him, but remembering those great hot rod days still makes me smile. Ya done good!

I hadn't thought about this in years until this thread came up. My dad p***ed in '71, but before he did, I rode the '57 Triumph 650 Trophy Bird that I had just stripped and rebuilt and shot in silver Metalflake over to his house and offered him a ride.

Although he never cared to participate in any of the builds I got involved in, the was a tool and die maker by trade and appreciated fine machinery.

I helped him up on the bike seat, then threw a leg over and wrapped his arms around my waist. We went for a long ride in the country, neither of us ever saying a word, just gazing out over the terrain with the wind blowing through our hair.

Although he never mentioned it to me after that, Mom said he talked about it until he p***ed......
