I need to get this thing finished in 2 weeks! Its going to be Close, very close!

I'm thinking I need a bigger tyre on the back. The tyres that came with it are 600-16 all round. Thinking I need a 650 or 700 on the back?

Screen is an original deluxe, so is just over an inch shorter than a standard. I'm not a fan of stock height screens, but think this works.

New Zealand quick-change rear. Notice the wonky tail light? Fitted by the previous owner who obviously had bad eyes!
I'm going to be changing them as soon as possible, so I think I'll put up with it.

After stripping the Vertex back to the aluminium I found out that they should be black, so thats what it is now.

Aftermarket gauge panel. Far left is the mag kill switch. I'm un-sure of the far right hole. Its needs a gauge, but I don't need anymore gauges.

    Looks like fun man!

    What's left, interior?

I agree, it could use a taller rear tire. And I'd probably lower it too. But it sure does look nice, that paint is beautiful.

Damn, that is looking nice. I agree you need some taller tires, maybe all four need to be taller, or just the rears. Those tires are way too short to work with that ride height. Love the car though, got me an A ch***is for my '26 roadster body and hope to soup up the motor like yours.

I dig it, especially the speed equipment on the 4 banger! Though I agree, taller tires in the rear would look better. I like the stance, only there is too much wheel well in the back. Nice job!

Beautiful car! I hope you get done in time. (The C-Dan Delivery is no slouch either). I think with that ch***is and ride height you could run as big as 750-16s in the back. Put a meat thermometer in that extra gauage hole, keep 'em all guessing.

  9. Very nice car! 7.00-16's would look great. Its the only way to go for rears I think. Real kool 4-banger too. Could use a shorter windshield maybe, or just toss it all together and throw on some goggles for a nice 30's lakes racer look :D

Nice car. Put a 7.80 in the rear. Big and littles are a nice touch.

I would also agree that the windshiled should be dropped a few inches.

Otherwise, bad *** ride. Congrats. Love it.

    I like it!

It does need bigger tires in the rear, though. That's an easy change.

I like that it is nosebleed high in the sky, which is a throwback to how a lot of guys actually built them. The lever shocks, undropped axle, and wire wheels all contribute to the early look.

    Thanks everyone.

It seems like its a big YES to bigger tyres.

Hopefully, just concentrating on getting a seat in first!

    I'm liking that idea.

I was really un-decided but the 700 looks really good.

That's a great representation of a late 30's-early 40's soup job. It has the "Look". I dare say though if you go with bigger tires in the rear you are going raise the ride height even more and I would consider what it will look like before you take the plunge. I personally think for the period it was built to immulate it is perfect.

It's a shame you can't run it without headlamps!

Awesome...AWESOME! As for tyre combo, I have 4.75/5.00x17 in front and 7.00x17 in back, on old Ford wires. I think your ride would benefit from a big/little setup, but it looks so good now. I would be happy to see that thing on the streets of London.

I have thought about! Quick release headlights?!?

Yes the coupe has gone, but not far, to fund the roadster.

I kept the engine from the coupe which is now in the roadster and the engine that came out the roadster is now in the coupe.

  23. Who's the mob that made the quickchange in NZ? I think I've seen one of the guys bringing them in here but forget who makes them. They make a 4 cyl and 8 cyl version, don't they?

A real time warp otherwise. I love the feel of it.

You can run all day long here without head lights......but not at night. ;-)

  29. Thanks Simon.....you got any idea of the price of the V8 version? I happen to know a tall weird dude over there in the freight business that might be able to ship somethin' like that....

that looks great. i think if the runningboard splash aprons were left on it might help it to look lower. also i would throw that early 7 tooth steering as far as i could and replace it with an f-1 box
