Its been awhile so here goes....... lots of neat stuff going on.

I've been here for a few months now and its crazy how time flys..... I've really just been hiding out at the shop getting used to it and trying to learn how to do this stuff for real......last weekend was my birthday, and as a suprise, a good friend flew my wife Laura down and the guys at the shop put us up in a really neat bed and breakfast.

I think it is the coolest thing anyone has ever done for me. I still can't even believe it.

    THANK YOU.

Laura has been in WI trying to sell our house there. Being separated from her has been the hardest thing I've ever gone through.... There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of throwing in the towel and heading home to her. The whole reason I did this move is to make a better life for us, and I believe we our on our way, but man, it's been hard.

Last weekend made it worth it. Being the new guy in town is weird..... At home I surrounded myself with really great people. I am an anti-social bastard, but the people who are close to me, mean everything to me.... I wasn't sure I could find that anywhere else.

Sometimes I'm the luckiest guy in the world.

Eveyone here is amazing. The guys in the shop all RULE. I've instantly felt like I've always been here..... I relate to Sean in so many ways and have so much respect for him..... its really cool to watch him work.

There have definately been some ups and downs and its been a chalange for me to adjust to working with so many people. So Far so good...... I think we have a pretty good team.

Then there is the Jesse factor.......... You know, he is Just some guy on TV to me, just like all you guys.... He may as well be a cartoon.

I mean I had alot of respect for his skills of course, but I went into this not knowing what to expect and with a definate chip on my shoulder about him. I kind of figured he'd be a cocky fucker and just make my life difficult... and probably fire me. haha

The first time he came to the shop when I was working I was scared as hell. I wanted to hide. After he got there, it was different than I expected.... he was cool.
    REALLY Cool.

He's supportive and helpful........ He even spent most of a Saturday giving a couple of us welding tips...... It helped a bunch. That was a good day.

A couple times I almost had to pinch myself...... it was an honor.

    I really like that guy.........

Its easy to HATE, but he is just like any of us out in the garage....... some how his garage has turned into a circus... Its a pretty crazy life for a "welder."

He still makes me nervous, but I really look forward to him spending more time at the shop.

The round up was crazy, I was up for a week straight.... Mark Ford, LIL Chris and me turned JMFJ's 36 into a driver. It went from having no engine or brakes to a slamed runner in a little more than a week...... people made bets about it not making it.

    WE WON.

On top of the 36 I was working on a new frame design.

    ASSholes frame Version .666

I will have access to some crazy tools so I was trying to make a better version of my old frames..... I had steel bent up and then welded it al together to make rails..... SO much cooler than Box tube..... the idea was to make Removable Boxing plates TM, to hide wire and lines etc.......

I made these ribs for the boxing plates to bolt to.... its seems like its going to work great.....

and a neat K member too..... (Look at Dan's Chevy damn.)

Welding lessons from god. I still got a ways to go.

This frame is the start of the JMFJ roadster. JMFJ is My Bro, if my Bro was named Apollo... haha

    BLEED EQUIPPED

I've been into this Kamikaze thing lately.

NO TURNING BACK. You Know? haha True Hot Rod Spirit.

You can buy those shirts...... I don't know the shops email, or even the phone # but you can figure it out...... I'm not really sure how much they cost either, but I think they are Kick Ass anyway. hahaha

The best part of austin lately is the fact that My dad has been here for the last three weeks.... he's been living in his bus "Crazy Bird" in the parking lot of the shop....

My dad rules..... he's been going out to the Continental evry night and I must thank Steve for hooking him up....... He's having the time of his life.

So anyway.... thats about it.... all is well...... I am headed back To WI to take care of some shit for a few weeks.....

When I get back I get to start on the COMO Merc.....

Build plan is to build the coolest Merc convert EVER. Fully Traditional with a caddy engine just like a custom should be.... Big Blocks are still for Camaros.... haha (although driving the Blue Merc sideways on Mopac with John is pretty fun, I've got to admit.)
    Cant wait......

    Keep Austin Dirtbag.

That frame looks killer. The K-member is cool and the belled holes set it off just right.

Bob, the real question is do you have a go kart track close by and have you found a place to buy roman candles. After watching the MFS one through five, I can't imagine you doing anything without go karts and roman candles.

Looks like your going to miss the Jefferson Swap Meet for the first time in how many years! Who's holding down your old spot in the cattle barn? With all the cool stuff happening in Austin I guess it may not matter.

The sweet memory that comes to mind, is walking thru the Fairgrounds at Memphis and seeing the workmanship in the cars. Looking at that frame I get the same feeling. Fine work there Robert!
    Thanks for the update too.

I see ya' at the shop thought about introducing myself but I'm abit anti social myself. I'm moving to Houston this weekend without my wife. It's the hardest thing I've done in a long time. Hang in there it's for the better.

We can always use talent like yours here in Texas; welcome!
By the way, I notice there is a South Austin Speed Shop when I do an internet / Google seacrch. Is yours a different shop or somehow related?
