I'd like to suggest a section dedicated to deaths or memorials.

I find it a major distraction and in some ways a little depressing to see the constant flow of death notice threads that keep appearing on the main board.

Yes they are valid, and yes it is a fact of life that sooner or later many of the people involved in our hobby will p***.

We too will have our turn.

I just feel that instead of seeing it all the time those who choose to look could refer to the appropriate place.

And yes, I get the response that some will make, "If you don't want to read a thread, then don't open it".

That is true, but seeing them at all on the main board still gets to me at times.

Rational ? Maybe not but it is what it is. :D

I understand your feelings about posting notices that we have lost a fellow car guy. However, if there was a section devoted to only deaths and injuries then one would have to go to that section just for the pupose of reading who we have lost. I rather doubt that many would check that section very frequently, if at all.
Using the main board seems to me to be the best way, the only way, to convey properly postnews of this type. Seeing the name of a long lost friend is sad, but it serves it's purpose in notifying friends and those who recognize the name that this person is either injured or gone. I vote to leave it as is. Others may disagree, but they are wrong. (smiling)

I think it is appropriate and relevant to the Hamb,,as you said if it doesn't interest you skip it.

The Hamb has been fine the way it is and there is no need to try and fix something that is not broken. HRP

No one said it was broken or that it needed "fixing".

It was merely a suggestion as is in the ***le of the section of the forum.

To the Editors> Questions and Suggestions.

That was what I was doing, presenting an idea and a small opinion.

So, it's a bit of a stretch to take that on to the " it doesn't need fixing" and get all defensive.

I was thinking that it was mentioned in the rules that it was prohibited to post that stuff to begin with, but its still done.

    So,,if I don't agree with you I'm being defensive?

Have you looked at some of the other car oriented forums that have so many sections that they fall short.
You offered a suggestion,,I only offered my personal opinion.

Lets see,it's his site and he pays the bills and it cost us absolutely nothing,,I'm going out on a limb and say yes he does things the way he wants!

He has built one of the largest,,if not the largest rod & custom sites on the internet doing it his way,,so,I will say again,,if it ain't broke!:D HRP

It's fine for you to not agree with me.
    No problem at all.

The way you presented your opinion had a "defend the forum" tone.

I happen to like at least a little organization on a forum it helps find things that get lost easily on forums like the Hamb.

That being said, I agree the Hamb is great.

    I do defend the forum!

Since the social groups were introduced with the last major update of the Hamb I feel like a lot of knowledge is sequestered to a smaller specific group and never to be shared on the main board.

I joined a few of them because of that fact.

I'm bias,,but I believe the Hamb should be a model to all the other forums,,I shudder to think about the extra work load that would fall squarely on the shoulders of the moderators adding additional ***les,,more opportunity for spammers!

Believe me,,as a Moderator of a small site I know what is involved with adding more to the work load,,and these guys do it for the love of what they do. HRP

:D I'm not in disagreement with you.

Too bad you had to go through all that work to dig up something I posted somewhere else and bring it along for the ride. :D

  11. How about a small section or something where the users names are listed (screen names) but no one can post on. Just like a "in Memoriam" section.
