Been working nasty hours and haven't had any time to fab lately. Your car is looking fawking SICK. I love the rear bars poking through the rear window. It's going to be one the baddest rods in Nor Cal when it's done. Dads sedan with be natural patina. FYI, looking for an A sedan HARD, if you of one PM me. It's awesome you have your own thing going. Whats the name oif the biz and where are you lcoated. You should join the hamb alliance vendor list. I bought alot of stuff from the vendors here. ( my memebership just expired though )
The name of the shop is Collector Car Garage. We are south of Vintage ford about 1/4 mile in Rancho Cordova. Not much reason to join the hamb as a vendor since we don't sell parts. But if anyone needs fab or paint come on by http://www.collectorcargarage.com/
no fab time today. Spent the day chasing parts and looking at some cars. Some stuff I picked up today. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get soem time in gotta love the 8" wheel though.
no sleaves just drain holes in the bottom side, some one else asked but did you make the dimple dies? Looks very kool,
Hey chopperman, Your builds looking great. I wish I could move through the fabrication as quickly as you do. I'm working on my first frame build and had a couple a questions I know you can answer. What size tubing did you use for your rear links? Do you buy your rod ends or make'm yourself? By the way the Bear Republic Brewery is right up the road from me. They make some tastey brews. Give the Racer 5 a try. I gotta go out and get one of those Hop Rod Rye's to see if I like it. Haven't had that one before.
coil over mount is in .. Mo- Links are a universal kit from air ride. 3/4 ID, like 3/8 wall.. Their beef for street use. Side shot of links. As mentioned, I still need to buy heims and mis alignment spacers for the uppers.
Verified that pinion angle is good with the 4 link. You can see ZERO difference in angle at ride height and full compression without shocks( 6"), more than this ride will ever see. Also, welded up all of the rear suspension, made fish plates and got those installed.
Really cool stuff! Lots of inspiration for me here. Are you going to weld up the fish plates inside the holes as well? I would think if you don't then moisture will get in between the plates and frame and start forming rust.
I had a set wleded up and they looked terrible. I am close to getting a tig welder though . I might through soe silicone in there or something
It's prolly waaaay late for this but.... No sleeves... Why cut holes if you feel the need to sleeve them? Don't worry about grime, water etc, AFTER you cut the holes... It makes no sense. Also I like the idea of the holes but with the flares, they look a little too close together and a little too close to the edge of the rail. It's just my opinion though... It looks like you're putting a lot of thought into this and doing good work regardless...
installed upper heims, finished fish plates, and got it all back together.Still need to align it all, I'm within 1/8" ( 1/16 L/R ) right now all around. Dropping engine and trans this weekend
got the engine moved from pops house to mine tonight. Installed flywheel, clutch, hydraulic throw out bearing ( BLING ), and sfi bellhousing. Tomorrow it all gets dropped into the ch***is
ha ha the scoop is as high as the roof on your model A. Looks great though, I wish my projects moved this quickly.
I have no idea how I missed this thread but man this is a kick *** build. I'm gonna be glued to this one now till the car is done. Awesome work.
update from the weekend. Cross member is in. It's a little overkill with the reccessed holes and all. But it's trick. I even some nice little metal covers that snap in.
