On my daily driver 1955 Plymouth. The front end was getting a little sloppy. And I could hear a clunk on the left side. Turns out the shock was broken and I had already ordered a set of k Y b gas adjust to swap it out. Swapped out the shocks and what a difference ! a much firmer ride and less body roll. I do have the sway bar upgrade to put in also, but that will be maybe next week. The swaybar is out of a 1999 Jeep XJ that can be bought new at the part store for pretty cheap. Note that these shocks are a inch longer , so I made a spacer to go between the a arm and the shock to let it hang a little lower so it doesn't bottom out. I put a zip tie on the shaft to see if it makes contact or not.
This sway bar is an inch. I can get you the specs when I get back to work tomorrow I had to step out for the day. The end mounts on the A arm side need to be fabricated. Here is a picture of the ends on another person's car.
Is the barrel of the lower shock mount parallel with the lower control arm inner shaft. If not the shock breakage could be caused by that. Shoebox Fords do that if the original mounting holes are used.
You can use Nissan Patrol/Sentra/Skyline/ Bluebird end uprights [end-links] on these types of swaybars. One end is a balljoint and the other end has conventional bushings . This circumvents the need for a bracket on the A-Arm, just drill a hole and use a washer. This is an Aussie Holden K-Mac bar [basically F-Body Camaro] on our 57. showing the Nissan uprights [end-links]
U13 Bluebird [mid 90's] N16 Sentra [2000-06] try Delphi TC2882 GU patrol use the same type but a lot taller We used U13 Bluebird because the swaybar was lowered on blocks [red] for front X-member clearance[green] This is considered a suspension mod in NZ so it required certification ,therefore the blocks needed to be welded to the frame. The holden bar was great, it cleared the tyres on full lock. Your car should be different [so happy hunting]
Those are genius end links! My drag car had Spax coilovers on the front when I bought it in the late seventies, they had ball insert weldments on the ends, while doing a "street test" an end broke off, I had my friend TIG weld it back on.......could have been real interesting at the track!
Got the links cost about 25 bucks. They may be a little short, but we'll see when I get it installed.
Do you get Nissan Silvia's over there. Try S13, S14 or S15 End links , they are longer. They are about $27 using our "pacific peso"
They worked OK on a Sentra [so as long as you get the geometry within range ,it should work OK Here is an Aussie listing [for others to benefit here as well] https://febest.com.au/0223-fe34-feb...DuDqqFroy-8KpU3sOkjqjFiBPxsjMJptVy1p6DyjNmKWY scroll down is a list of cars they fit. My end links were given to me by a "drifter" who was trying to improve his car with anodized parts
