Sweet tuned exhaust or open Its still rock and roll to me! Gary, Been there to brother. funny how simple things change our minds!
living in the north where salt is used on the roads during the winter my falcon goes into hibernation until a good spring rain has washed the roads clean. all the while tucked away under a cover out of sight and mind for 4-5 months. when i roll it out in the spring and fire it up its like a new toy all over again. i've often wondered if i lived in a climate that would allow me to drive the car all year round, would i get bored with it?
Maybe thats the problem, damn California roadster weather all year round. I just went for a ride right after I posted on this thread.
YOU ****!!!! I say sitting inside my snow globe looking out while my 55 is covered in the garage...hmmm, its still early, maybe the neighbors won't get too pissed if I fire it up
Ahhh...the simple things. I totally get it. Sometimes I feel like a little kid getting excited over things like you describe. Good post.
There is nothing like the crisp sound of a well tuned motor. I get tired of the car's I build also, the only cure is to make them faster for me. If you take a car out and it has enough power to raise pure hell and a handfull to drive then the joy never goes away.
getting new tires on my bike had the same effect on me. i didn't have to fight the bike turning and it felt like a new bike all over again. when i replace the chain and sprockets next week it'll feel like new once again and i'll fall in love with her all over again.
Many years ago in high school I had a summer job pumping gas at a Sunoco station near a major highway. Once beautiful summer day I was feeling lousy when a red Stingray convertible rumbled in, driven by a young guy with a good looking girlfriend. I noticed cutouts by the front wheels – not side pipes, just old school cutouts peeking out from underneath. When I was done filling the tank the driver asked if there were many cops around and I said not many, why? He didn’t answer but just pulled out a wrench and whipped off the cutoff caps and away he went. The sound of that car driving away was just what I needed that day. When he hit the highway he redlined it in three gears and then cruised on in fourth, and I just stood there and listened to that beautiful sound for several minutes. I could hear it so well l it was like I was right there in the car. Some days are better than others, and that one was one of my best.
I'm one of those guys that build and then sell. Usually I will build and finish in the spring and then play with it most of the summer iron out all the little problems and off to the Silver Cl***ic auction. I have sold 5 Model A's this way Coupes Roadsters and Sedans. Its easy to get a let down near the compleation of the project but the thought of the next one is always there. Whith this being said its a good thing we are all different. Some guys gotta build and some guys gotta buy and some build keepers. Just enjoy which ever kind of guy you are.
