In the end a dropped Factory Ford axle looks the best and is as strong as any out there. I've got a Forged SoCal axle that I snagged a deal on because it and it's box were shop worn from it being displayed at a bunch of shows for a few years. My finger prints were probably on it from when I checked the axle out at the SoCal booth at a show a few years before. Strong axle but some folks don't like the looks of them as well as they do the dropped original ford Axles.
Didn't one of the axle dropping guys have a selection of already dropped Henry Ford axles at one of the big show /swaps recently. Do a search on here then contact them. And I agree with @Mr48chev ,an original looks better than any aftermarket.
I can’t recall the name, but friends with Sid at droppedaxles.com. I gave the friend an A axle at Turlock for a core price 15 or so years ago.
Find a nice stock A axle (they're fairly cheap) and ship it to Greg Haynes/Anson Axles. One of the best droppers in the country. Check Anson Axles On Instagram. Lots of pictures of his quality work.
Called Okie Joe and bought a Model A axle along with square back spindles fitted with new bushings. I paid for the axle core because it was cheaper than findinding an axle and shipping it to him. I was more than happy with the price and end product. https://www.joesspeedshop.com
As others have suggested, find a stock axle and have it dropped. My suggestion would be to send it to Andy Kohler in Williamsport PA. he is a member here on the HAMB, Thunderbirdesq. I believe is his user name. He should have axle cores if you can’t find one. Give him a call and ask his opinion on what you’re planning, he’s a nice guy. Tell him I said to call. (570) 494-7362
Paul, I agree with Mark T. The original ford axles are the best to use. Andy Kohler does great work. How soon do you want to get it ? If you are not in a hurry, I can probably get it from Andy, and deliver it to you when I come up to The Fall Out.
I have the original axle I could send him. I'm trying to decide exactly what I'm going to do Thanks Nick I'll let you know when I figure it out Thanks for offering Nick !
Andy aka @thunderbirdesq is closest to the OP and would be recommendo as well. A axles are everywhere, I know I have one maybe two in the pile out back.
Depends what you want to do, I have a '35/'36 axle in my '28 (same year bones). I think those years look the best dropped. Look at pics and specs for the axles and then choose where you want to send it. https://droppedaxles.com/ford-dropped-axles-0
