I have collected all the traditional parts to convert my A to an AV8. Ran into a medical issues and I may leave it mostly stock now ??? I found a rebuilt 30/31 box that I'm buying. I have the F1 . Just wondering.... After I replace the A steering box if I decide to use the flathead can I use the A box?
    Thanks

The F-1 box will a lot easier to turn and a lot smoother. That is in the internal design of the boxes.
With the A box you are going to know it more in your arms and chest muscles if you do some longer road trips. The A box being designed for a fairly light little car with skinny tires with small contact areas and the F-1 box being designed for a 2257 lb curb weight car with about 1360 lbs on the front wheels if you figure 60/40 weight bias. Curb weight of an F 1 is right at 3200 lbs with around 1950 lbs on the front wheels.
