Been a while since I've been on here. Honestly been pretty busy with life. All good but pretty busy. Some of us keep in touch on Instafuser but not all. So I gots to thinking I needed to post something. Well here's something- I am building a '30 on '32 rails, nothing spectacular just a black Hot Rod I can keep and enjoy. Rumble seat car, etc. But I'll get to that in a minute. While doing this I made a deal to build a guy a '31 RPU for a pile of '29 Closed Cab parts. In the pile was a chasis, engine, rear, trans etc. IT needed wheels, tires, brake rods, Steering column, wheel, and all the other little stuff that keeps one stillborn. That was about 32 days ago. Both chasis showed up at the same time, and the RPU to build. So I had two dead chasis in the driveway and a partial RPU. Wife was not stoked. So I thought to myself if I can get mine running and moving then at least one wouldn't be dead and in the way and the other one would be asier to slide to the far side to work on. Asking the guy I traded with was most important so that he knew I would get his truck done. IT's in the process and will be one fine RPU in a few months. He gave the blessing, in fact he was so stoked he came over and we made it run together. Eureka! now I had a running Model A chasis. I thrashed hard and made the brake rods, installed the steering, and found the right wheel and tire combo. 17 days ago. Now I needed seat to drive this around? Hmmmm. Ford made these simple little cars called Model T's, I might just know a guy. So Icalled said guy and found he still had a Touring body with the doors. No back panel but nevertheless it was something. So I brought it home. Amazingly enough 4 bolts almost line up and just need a little hep to attache the T to an A frame. Then Lando the Kid wanted to paint it. Oh boy I already have one shiny project in hand. But never wanting to dissapoint the kid I handed him some Scotch Brite, Prep Sol, and let him pick out and make a really *****in' Dark green out of Rustoleum and the best Purdy Brush I had. Figuring what could go wrong? Well honestly there isn't a brush stroke in it and it looks fanf'intastic. The kid pulled it off, he's in charge of the shiny now. Much better at it than me. So that was 9 days ago +/- I get the timeline off a little but it's close enough. Then headlights, tailight, wiring harness, and of course a switch for ignition. If anybody has a back panel for sale for a '27 T it would be greatly appreciated, I have a windshield and posts on it now. So in about a month we built a T on an A chasis and drove it to Coffee last Saturday on Halloween. Here's some pictures for the visual aspect. Here's a picture of the Roadster, honestly I think the T was a way to get me ready to finish this. Painted cars are wonderful when they are done, but the getting done part tires my nerves. No that's not me in the photo, it's my good friend and partner in crime on alot of the Carcapades around here Conor. Thanks Bud the help last weekend was perfect. Wouldn't be a rolling Roadster without it. I'll do a post on the Roadster later, I want to drive it first.
When I built my 55 chevy g***er there was this kid across the street who was kinda interested in the car and when I told him I was building a race car his eyes lit up. From that point on everytime I pulled in on the gravel driveway across from his house he was out the front door like a shot and over there to help me in what way he could. Hot dutsy tired he didnt care. We got it running and took him for a ride of co**** and he loved it, he got a little scared but I think I helped create the next generation of gear heads. Someones got to do it. yruhot
Way cool, and even better that your son wanted to get in on it as well. I've got a spare middle section, but no backs.
Rear section is available aftermarket . they fit decently not perfect but better than nothing Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
