Just got her a couple weeks ago in MN. Don't have any artsy photos yet but here's the '52 Pontiac Chieftain Catalina Super DeLuxe arriving to a super stoked new owner. ME!

Have had this Coupe de ville for over 20 years. It has gentle ridges that run over the roof kinda like the Impalas of the same year.

  6. pigIRON63, that feeling can be had all over North America cruising in a 63 2dr ht Galaxie. I tell folks that God intended that those cars be driven in hard top mode (windows down) with the heater on if needed. Nothing quite like it.

... and, doesn't everyone look back at their car while walking away? I know I always do. :)

Opinion: I think the GM bubbletops starting in '61 were the prettiest production hardtops made in America.

I remember the first 1963 1/2 ford fastback I saw had the vinyl covered roof. Sure looked like a ragtop!

As far as who had the first hardtop, here are shots I took of a '34 Hupmobile disguised as a Ford that I took at last year's Deuce Days. IMG_1315.JPG IMG_1316 - Copy.JPG IMG_1316 - Copy.JPG

The hardtops that I don't understand are GM's Pontiac and Chevrolet ones done in 1958. Why did they make both a Bel Air and Impala hardtops and their Pontiac counterparts? That is sort of competing with yourself.

Here is my 56 Canadian Dodge two door hardtop. Not a lot of these around.
