This was dropped off to my shop today . The car came with most of the history,
The same guy owned, built and drove it from 1940 till some time in the late 80's when he passed away.

My friend Dave bought it and all we are doing is making it run and drive.
It's a 40 buick 4 door the guy bought it new and started cutting it up in 1940

It's got a pretty well documented history. Cool to see it's still in pretty good shape overall. Would be nice to see those RWL tires and ripple discs replaced with whatever it was originally built with.

Is that faded out grey paint, or is it in primer?

I would love to see what happens with this cutom. I saw it on Ebay for sale. The back doors don't look right I'm think a new carson top would help it. But what do I know...

    It's the Bat!
I remember it from a feature in one of those custom car magazines from the 80's.
There was a pic of it next to a stocker.

    Something odd....
When it was still a four door, it had '53 Chev tail lights.
Maybe he didn't cut it up in 1940?

I wonder why that front end "look" never got popular?

Quite a sombre reception? Looks like a fun and engagingly eccentric custom. Thanks for posting

That front plate kind of kills it, but cool to see that it is still around.

Yes, there is room in the back seat for you. I'll let you know if we are going for sure.
