Some of you fellas know that I have this thing for Odd Ducks and turning what most would consider fugly, that I find challenging to make something cool that most can agree un-coolable.

I just get these visions and often times without much other thought, deal done, I give up one that plans didn't pan out and get another, and I'm like, cripes I am sick. It may be a body line, or rake or trim a vision hits me like the sun breaks through the clouds and the movie "Where Eagles Dare" theme music starts playing.

I have had a few over the years and unfortunately one burned up on me 4-5 months back.
Don't get me wrong, I like all the popular years / styles of the most common 30's, 40's 50's A's, Fat Fender, Customs , popular Fords, Chevys and Mercs. etc. It's the other Odd Duck brands that get me too, as you just don't see as many and different always stirs the imagination.

What you fellas don't know is I've lead a double life of Hoodlum at my shop with busted knuckles, oil stained pants/shirts, nights and weekend. Then day career, 47 years Corporate multi- billion $ a year company starched shirt that afforded me the many rides and shop I have over the years. Tale of 2 lives you might say.

Ryan never asked my qualifications over 24 years ago, so I sold him my night "job";).
I had the p***ion, and I was sold on the HAMB and what it is and wanted to help Ryan's "vision" and appreciate the trust in me of trying to help keep things smooth sailing.

After 47 years, time for me, effective January 1, 2026, to a full-time hoodlum, with another vision, CC II and this time retirement project on my time. No more Corporate America.
Stay tuned, I'll update later this week if the weather and travel/ roads cooperate.......

This is going to be good, but we need a partial photo to help us guess what it is.

Congrats on pulling off the freeway and hitting the 2 lane blacktop!
You've certainly had some interesting cars over the years. It'll be fun to see what you come up with now that you'll have way more time to get into trouble.

Congratulations on the retirement and being a full time hoodlum:D. I appreciate the cars and trucks folks tend to ignore . As they make some of the most beautiful cars when done correctly

I can relate to the professional vs. hoodlum life. Most people on the weekends would never guess what I do during the week...lol However, there are no starched shirts in my weekday life.

And, congrats on the upcoming transition to full time hoodlum life. :D

I don't own any New Balance, but just for Jeff, I'll draw a "NB" on the outer side of my work boots. :D

Big congrats on making the finish line Cobb. It can be a slippery slope. Get in a groove and keep your head down. Skeechers slip-ons. BTW, that was a helluva good movie, seen it when released.

Congratulations! I still have 3-1/2 years to go, but I'm already starting to get more involved in other things that will fill up my retirement when I finally reach that milestone.

    Congratulations on your retirement.

I lead the double life for a long time. But, I've been lucky to be a full-time hoodlum for over twenty years.

    Enjoy!

I retired 12 years ago from the corporate world, and you are now entering a wonderful world of discovery including trips to the emergency room due to the mallet slipping and hitting a body part (yours, not the cars), welding slag falling into your socks, forgetting where a crescent wrench has disappeared to, why your socket set is missing the 9/16, and on and on. The great news is that you, like me, can wear shorts and Adidas daily and not give a ****, BECAUSE YOUR RETIRED!
    The very best to you.

You are going to feel so much independence.
I retired from a City job doing maintenance in the Police Dept. and do not miss any of it.

    Congrats on retirement.
Very good advice from @slowmotion .
When you were working, shop-time was limited and precious.
Now that shop-time appears to be unlimited, things tend to be less immediately pertinent.
I've been retired for nearly 10 years and I actually got more done in the shop when I was still working because my shop-time was limited and more valuable.
