Sitting here at work, just thinking about how much more fun I was having exactly one week ago ..and was thinking about how good it was to not have to explain my car last weekend .probably one of the first time Ive ever been somewhere where everybody got it. You all know what Im talking about? Here in Alabama there is no scene, no traditional cars, very few customs I dont know know much about Islam, but I guess last weekend was like a pilgrimage to Mecca . Top ten things I didnt hear at the drags 1. What color are you going to paint it? 2. Itll be nice when you finish it .. 3. Ill have time to talk to you when I finish waxing my car .. 4. Which way to have your car judged? 5. You cant park here! 6. It would look good if youd put some wheels on it! 7. hey man .does your chebby hop??? 8. What time is the awards ceremony? 9. That thing is too low! (radshits truck .that entrance Friday night with the runningboards digging in the gravel was too cool ..!) 10. Why dont you put a v-8 in it? I hope I never recover from last weekend .that has to be one of the best car weekends ever. Like Ryan said, its all about the cars and the people who build them. Kinda strange, meeting people for the first time, but already knowing them in a way Now Ive got a bug up my ass to build something that will RUN, the view down the quarter from the tree was kinda addidcting ..that was the first time I had ever been on a dragstrip. Even getting smoked by Ryan wasnt too bad .! Well, I guess Ill hush now ..thanks to everyone who had a hand in making last weekend come off as smoothly as it did .and to everyone who came. Brian
Brian, I just got a call from a buddy that was pitting for us at the drags. He bought an altered T today. It gets addicting. I had a great time and the lack of "attitudes" was the best part. I think that was what got him hooked.
Yep...believe it or not most of the comments above are things I have been told or asked about my car. Deyomatic, you should have shown the next picture too... That ones shows the true picture! But what the hell, it's a custom...not supposed to be fast. If anybody saw this run, what did the six sound like with me flogging the heck out of it? Wish I had an audio clip of it....! I wonder if it is on FatCat's video? Brian
Kustom52,your a FAG, all this time, you always show a tiny pic pf your ride in your "sig" thing, i never realized your ride was that badd ass... you suck
Yeah, but it's not as cool as your gay ass truck! I came trhough Bowling Green a few weeks back...thought about stopping for a visit but I didn't have any way to contact you...and it was about 8:00 on a Sunday night. You should have came to the drags....Andysduece said you were supposed to be there but had some lame excuse....! Any progress on the truck lately? Brian
The photos say it all.......the body and paint work on Brian's 52 chevy were as nice as the interior and engine. All top notch. Glad I met ya.
Well, Brian you'll have to post more pics when you paint it. Unfortunately, I don't have any of your runs on my video.
Thanks for the compliments....the car got mroe attention than I expected last weekend...which goes back to my point about being around people who "get" it. It's holding up well...there's some spots in the bodywork I'm not happy with. Some rust repair had been done when I got the car...and apparently I should have redone it before paint, because there's a few "freckles" starting to bubble up. I guess it's doing ok considering I have put almost 50k miles on it since it first rolled out of the shop in '93. I've got a ton of ideas on what I want to do next...I'd love to redo it into a more understated Valley Custom style...then again I think I should just leave it alone and use those ideas on another car. I do need to do some suspension upgrades...I'm tempting fate relying on the stock brakes at the speeds I drive it. It will get some kind of upgrade on the front suspension and braking this winter..(but I think I said that last year!). Thanks again for the compliments....if it inspires someone else to build or finish a project then I have done my job well. MilesM, it think it was you I was discussing '51 - '52 stuff with in the parking lot at the hotel Sat. night...if you see this send me a list of the grille parts you need and I'll see what I can come up with. Brian
I guess I was too busy soaking it all up to even think about the comments Brian talked about but now that it was posted, he is quite right. It was the same at the KCS&P tour last year. Seems the egos were all left at the house. It doesnt get any better than that. Sorry I didnt get to meet all the folks I wanted to. Missed talking to Radshit whom ive been wanting to meet since KCS&P. We didnt even want to bug the Gordini crew. They were about as intense as it gets! Looking forward to 2004.
It was a really cool weekend...well worth the drive to meet everyone. We need to have these get togethers more than just once a year. Maybe move them around so more guys can get to them. I really enjoyed talking to the guys I met at KCSP last year and also the ones I had'nt had a chance to meet yet. kustom52 (Brian) is pretty cool...no matter what his friends say. I'm glad I got a chance to make it.
I pulled a Mt Dew from the fridge a bit ago. I was leftover from MOKAN, it smelled like Hickory Smoke
Damn it you guys, after seeing all of the posts I really wanna go next year! Why did you all have to make look and sound like so much fun?
Kustom52 your car is great. Thanks for letting me check it out and the offer on grille parts. I was digging through my pile the other day. Going to look at another 52 Sedan Delivery again today. Hey Deyo, were you still interested in it? My brother is going to trade him another car for it I think.
Surf Monkey, that's a cool picture you have there...do you have a higher resolution version you could email me? That needs to be on the wall in the office.... Brian
Heck, guys. I wanted soo bad ta be there. Family obligations got in the way. Please oh please tell me there will be an annual event. I have been away all week, hope it went great for everybody.
