a833 tails

    how difficult is it to change tails on an A833? If I buy an old iron mid/late 60's A833 WITH AN A TAIL IS IT EASY TO CHANGE OVER TO A B/E TAIL .

  3. I think you would need to change the output shaft in the trans as that is the major difference, the length of the unit.

    If you are trying to put an A body tail in a B body trans forget it. the main shaft is not the same length. On the other hand i think early B body and late B\E body transmissions have the same length tail shaft housing, so the housing should interchange.

    PM "Truckedup" here on HAMB (all one word). As I recall he rebuilds A833 transmissions and would probably be happy to answer your questions.

    you get to tear the sum***** apart, not just pop the tailshaft housing off and swap it.***holes that design ****;)
