Hi Aaron, you car is looking good! Thanks for your updates even if you don't think its 'exciting' it's still really great to watch! I filled my firewall at the start of this year, and can appreciate the time involved. PS that notch to get to the rear head bolt is genius! Cheers Aaron. Fantastic ! Excellent job on the video and the parking brake setup. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Thanks Carl, Mikel, and Jeff. I worked on the frame this weekend. Getting it cleaned up and some mods to make it look better. It's going to be nice to get some color going on this thing.
Just a small update. In the video towards the end, it looks like there is a crack from the cylinder to the valve seat area. I looked at it very closely with a magnifying glass and it does not appear to be a crack. Mag test will show for sure though. The video really enhances that area.
Just dropping in to say thanks for sharing your techniques with us. I ordered a pair of the dropped tie rod ends because of your thread. (Speedway owes you a commission.) They will help me get past a hurdle on my 35 project. I think the way you handled your fan clearance issue will also help with mine. Can't thank you enough.
Pensive Scribe, glad I could help, just passing on info I've gotten from other threads here on the HAMB. The fan clearance issue is still on going and may require some significant changes. I'll keep you posted.
Another great job Aaron. Very creative and functional. Lots more work to put it back together, but totally worth it in the end. So, will you tear it back down now for frame paint and engine build?
Thanks Greaser, that's the plan. I'm going to check a couple more things before I pull the body off again. I hate taking the body off and on, I worry about dropping it and damaging it. Aaron
Frame is in Eastwood chassis black primer. I should get it in color coat tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Aaron..... great thread!!!!.....it’s good to see the work being done.....I’ve read how to do a lot of the tasks you’ve completed and it really gives me confidence that I can do what I’ve read about. As others have said, the videos are Awesome! While your filming and talking seeing a ball roll by your feet then a wagging tail(I love dogs) is funny. The chickens squawking in the background has got to make people smile!!!......Great job!!!.......Mark
Haha, ya, that's my 4 year old Aussey. He's ready to play all the time, non-stop! I do a little work, throw the ball, little more work, throw the ball, on and on.... Haha.
Alright! The frame is in Eastwood extreme chassis gloss black. I feel a sense of accomplishment. I can assemble some of the stuff to the frame permanently now. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Fantastic job as always. I keep saying I’m going to do an Aaron D spinoff and start videos on mine. But then I get tunnel vision, get to work and it’s gone. Someday. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
48, in the mock-up stage i did try that, but I didn’t end up using them. I’m using the stock holes. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Are you bracing the column support at all or just bolting it to the bottom of the dash? Looks like you beefed up the area a little but it’s hard to see in the videos
Hi Tim, Brookville sends a little piece with the dash that is used to support the column. I tack welded it in four spots to the back of the dash, then drilled holes for the column support and bolted it all together. Seems strong enough. Aaron
Thanks I’m doing a similar dash and have been back and forth over what level of over kill is really necessary
Lots and lots of painting going on around here! Two days of sand blasting, wiping down, epoxy primer, chassis primer, and gloss black. Wheww.... Here’s just one rack of parts. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
