hi u you guys i live in california and i found some 1940's trucks abanded in the desert is it leagel to take them??
Probably not. If it's state or federal land they might grant you permission to remove them. If it's private land you were trespassing already.
Everything belongs to somebody, and you're going to have to come up with proof that you acquired it legally in order to get a title and tag for it to put it on the road. Starting point is to find out who owns the land it's sitting on, which is a matter of public record.
No, no man! A Band, radio.......... he is just asking about frequencys........ um.............yeah I got no idea what I'm talkin' about......... Doc.
The city neighborhood code compliance lady made a comment about my truck in the driveway being abandoned. I called her and told her it was mine and I paid good money to get it there.
A pallet? Prepared for a voyage to Austrailia or the like? I'll take the 40 Ford or the '41 Chevy whichever is the most solid.
Not legal at all. If you want something from a parcel of land, find out who the owner is by the town tax records. The information is free. I scored a couple of goodies this way because the absent owner was in the "moving" process. Cash to him was more wanted than his abandoned projects.
In OK, we have a form at the tag office you can fill out to acquire a title for an abandoned vehicle.... Might look into that first. But then it might be trespassing when you go to get it?
I think the guys pretty well nailed it. Private land find the land owner and get permission or offer to buy them. Public land find out who the range manager is of that area and tell them you would like to be able to haul the trucks out and ask what you need to do. If it is an area you can drive into, most likely the range manager would like to have them off the area anyhow but didn't want to pay to have them hauled. Unless they are artsy fartsy around some old attraction like an old mine shack. Getting written permission to haul them wouldn't be a bad idea either. It wouldn't give you a real claim on them but having a signed letter that you have permission to get them might make things simpler if you have a patrol person/officer wanting to know what you are doing. No matter what underplay the condition of what's there and don't act like you want it super bad.
