There seems to be no shortage of companies doing less and less to help us with our old parts. But Jeff at Monneyham blowers not only called while on vacation to see what I needed help with, he dug up the old records and told me who bought it, how it was set up, and discussed what I should look for to run it in the 51. Not bad for a part sold in the 80s. He then referred me to a local blower expert. Rudy Petra at R&P Blowers falls right into the company mold of great service. Today I drove the blower up to him and he looked it over. His diagnosis was it is a happy blower and wants nothing so take it home and use it. Rudy did explain that it was built as a competition blower and not a street blower. We discussed it and it should be good with the current plan. Bottom line, both are great companies and people to work with.

That's good to hear these days. I dealt with Rudy Petra 30 years ago, he was very good to me. He's seen it all when it comes to roots blowers.

Great to hear, although I'm not in the market for their products.
I remember the magazine with a blower shootout article. They asked a bunch of companies to send a complete setup for testing. Moonyham drove over in a rod with a blower installed, took it off ran the test, then put it back on the car and drove off. Legend!
I'm including the link to make sure I got the spelling (and Co.) right.

Great story, but I think it was Don Hampton, in his wife's bucket.

Oh, you are right. My mistake.

and since I linked Mooneyham, here's Hampton

    excerpt
—If we were forced to pick a "winner" for this test, we'd have to give it to Hampton for sheer showmanship. This guy put together his prototype two-lobe street 6-71 a couple weeks before the test, bolted it onto his wife's T-roadster, drove it every day to make sure it worked O.K., then drove it over to the test site, unbolted it from the car, dropped it on the dyno motor, made more horsepower than just about everybody, then put it back on the roadster and drove it home!

That’s old school customer service and support. Unfortunately these days companies don’t care as much…..

I would love to hear about other companies or people that still give this type of service. I know that I would go out of my way to shop with companies that value their customers as more than being simply a paycheck.

I have had a good experience dealing with Quick Performance in Ames Iowa on an oddball rear axle situation.

Also Louis Jeffries at Accurate Transmission in Bellville Michigan takes pains to make sure he is giving me the best possible racing automatics and hot rod transmissions.

I called Quick performance this morning to check on my axles, Due to the time change I think I was calling a little early , I just hung up the phone and figured I would try back in an hour...15 minutes later the phone rang , it was them saying sorry we missed your call how can we help? My axles shipped out this morning:cool: Great customer service!

Ordered another set of axles and a drum brake kit from QP today. I read off all my housing measurements and his first response was, Thank you for making all the measurements add up. Big Ford old style ends, 2 3/8" brake space 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern. Your parts will arrive next week Sir.:D

I like doing business with QP. I don’t think I have ever had a bad experience dealing with them. Once I have it all together, I need to order a spare 3rd member. Maby 4.11 with a full locker.

I had a very BAD experience with one of their competitors. They thought their measurements made more sense than mine and made the axles accordingly , they didn't fit and it was a son of a bitch to make it right....on top of the fact the guy on the phone was a total Prick.

Just a heads up , I had a really great experience with Ben Greenwood of BCCP. Communication was impeccable and I received exactly what I anticipated with the Disc brake kit for my 62 Tempest build. Finding parts suppliers for oddball classic vehicles is really becoming a challenge lately and I would highly recommend BCCP.

Always good to hear of more great companies and people. I think we should share the great experiences and hold our tongues on the so so transactions. And yes we should share our really bad experiences when warranted to protect others. I know first hand that bad communication or follow through takes great right out of a deal. I had a delivery made by truck freight and had explicitly asked they co-ordinate the delivery with me before they shipped it. They agreed as I'm a mile down a narrow gravel road and have a very steep driveway. There is a 15 ton bridge just down the road from me and sending a semi to drop off deliveries isn't a good plan unless the truck is very light or the driver likes to back up over blind hills on a narrow road. Imagine my surprise when I hear a truck on the road and there is a 48 foot trailer with a lift gate getting ready to drop off my shipment. Great job getting the order done and ready to go early, but the lack of doing what we agreed upon almost ended in an upset customer. The driver was going to leave the shipment by the road. We got it up the hill the little bit to the shop. But imagine how upset I would have been had the oversized pallet been left by the road.

It's easy to find the time to publicly bitch about bad service, but too few people take the time to let others know when they are treated well. Kudos for sharing!

  25. On the subject of awesome customer service, a couple of years ago I contacted Russ Martin from Centerville Auto Repair for some Buick nailhead 322 parts. What an awesome guy. I'm sure he was busy like everyone else but we talked for about half an hour. He made sure I understand my engine, he made some suggestions on the route I was planning to follow on it. When he located the parts I needed, iirc, he called to let me know he had the parts. He is top notch in my book.
